I've seen black bears crossing 2 lane highways also, but their numbers aren't anywhere near those of the deer herd, and they're not dumb like deer either.
I've never seen a bear kill on a highway in 67 years in northern Wisconsin.

The wildlife overpasses are one of the few things that are worth the price tag imho.

They have some in U.S. too. Idk how wild critters figure how to funnel to them instead of randomly cross highways for hundreds of miles. Glad they do, though. A win-win.

They fence off the road for quite a ways. And it’s heavily patrolled for speeding. They funnel the animals to the overpasses. It seems to work

The fences are high and stout! You do still need to be cautious on these stretches when the light isn't good - animals manage fences quite amazingly.

Ours are high fenced from one over pass to the next so they have no choice if they want to cross the road.

They have those here in Florida down in the 'glades along Alligator Alley and also along SR29, mainly to protect the Florida Panther population.

You would think a panther could just jump out of the way

Here in the States they have chosen known game routes - I suspect they do the same wherever the system is put in place.

They are cats right
Believe it or not, quite a few get killed every year by cars in South Florida.

How about the Burmese Pythons? :p
Man, those guys are really effing up the 'glades. The small animal population is really decimated from those snakes.

People think it's just because people were releasing pet snakes into the wild, but in reality, when Hurricane Andrew hit in '92, it destroyed a breeding and research facility on the eastern edge of the 'glades. That was all she wrote.

Now, 30+ years later we are seeing the effects.

I think the largest snake so far was an 18 foot pregnant female that had 110 eggs in her. There have been many, many caught in the 12-15 foot range.

I was kidding about the cats. I have watched videos about your snake problem apparently honey badgers are going to help. Invasive species are always hard to get rid of
