11 grand thr missus granted the wish of a suicidal deer. 11 grand cad estimated to fix it. I got the freaked out phone call not much I can do told her to get a hold of the cops and report it. No big deal other than the 250$ cad deductible I pulled the headlight bucket out and cut back the inner fender so nothing would fall off or make a noise

Just remember it is better then "Grandma got run over by a reindeer". this is " Someone ran over the reindeer". My daughter has hit at least three deer in the last few years in MO. I had one run into the side of my truck one morning, didn't hurt the truck, but the deer had a headache.

Out here, at least by our experience & folks we know, it is about half hitting the deer and half kamikaze deer running into the vehicle. Not an if situation, but when. Someone a while back suggested they were running into the light of headlights and briefly dimming or shutting off the lights might confuse & stop them. Any thoughts on that? Haven't tried it.

Not that, but when I had my 91 CTD, I could tap the go pedal slighty and the change in turbocharger whine would start the deer running back into the woods. Happened several times.
ps it would also wake up the wife if she nodded off lol

My brother was an Engineer on the rails for about 40 years. You can't stop a train in time, nor dodge the animal. Blowing the horn only works sometimes but at night he said many times, turning off the light works a lot of the time.

Glad you wife is okay. With the Rut being in full swing right now, lots of deer getting hit. The does are running away hard and the Bucks are single track minded chasing them. Have had a couple of spectacular Bucks I could have Bow shot right off my deck the last couple of weeks.

This is one of them. You can tell he is in full rut by how swollen his neck is.

These cost $600 + install labor instead of $6,000. Plus they keep deer away after you install, guaranteed! lol

All the semi truck tractors have these up here in big deer country. The big fear isn't body damage - it's radiator puncture.

I got a deer, hog with County Vehicle. Got the deer running into side of Momma's Lumina dent and knocked mirror off. I also almost slammed into side of cow that was at a low water crossing that should not have been accessed by dat critter while on my 86 Yamaha. It was close.

In Germany while on economy working friggin German rammed the rear bumper of my US ARMY VW van while I was sitting at a traffic light. He was driving a 64 Caddy Sedan. Just dented bumper. He begged me to make up a story and was gonna give me 2K Marks on the spot. Nope called Polizei. I am in public in German Town and that idjut hit my very noticeable marked MP VAN. Heck of an offer not worth my career.

Deer in TX are the size of armadillos.
