My wife, family and I are going on a 6 mo. camping trip around the United States and we have a 24' travel trailer. (too small.) Currently, I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie w/ tow package, airbags etc... I am looking at getting a 30 to 36' travel trailer which weigh in around 6,500lbs to 8,500lbs and I am considering on trading in for a 2013 2500... but do I really need to?
The reason I bought this RAM was because the tow rating was pretty good for a 1/2 ton. The wheel base seems to be the same as the 2500 and with a class IV hitch, tow package etc... I don't see why it would have any issues pulling a 36' 11" trailer that weighs in at 8,500 loaded... Thoughts?
I'd prefer not to have to trade for a 2500 but if I do, I'll prob just get a tradesman so I don't lose much on the trade...
Decisions, Decisions... What would you do? I'm in a pickle! Love my 1500..
