One of the guys we used to cruise with picked up a "70 Mark Donahue special for $100, owner said it needed a clutch. The only thing wrong with it was one of the ball studs for the z-bar broke. He fixed it for less than a Mickey D's cheeseburger.

Back in my AMC days ,one of the guys in the local club had a Donahue with less then 20,000 miles on it,they were a sharp car. AMC's clutch linkage set-ups were a bit light if you ran a good clutch in them. I went through several clutches in my 401 powered 74 hatchback Hornet X ,then i had one of the local clutch builders build a ceramic clutch for it,after that i quit blowing up clutches, and started blowing up T-10's,lol. After going through all the T-10's i could get my hands on back in the early 90's,i converted it to a 998 (AMC's version of a 904,with a stronger case) with the low gear set in it,and the car went from mid 11's to low 11's,with a 125 shot on it,it was running low to mid 10's,and cleaning up on the street. With a 67 Mustang 9" under it,was basically bullet proof, after i did the under intake oil line mod and put a Milodon swinging dual pick-up oil pan on it.Had alot of fun with that car,as it was a bit of a sleeper, nobody gave an AMC much credit back in the late 80's and early 90's. It's one of the toys i wished i still had,as it was a pretty little car.
It was pretty well identical to the one Bond drove in the Man With the Golden Gun,except mine had the white interior, the one he did the famous barrel roll with, lol

That literally was the car that got me started on Mopar and I haven't looked back. The horn was probably what caught my attention first. I was 9 years old!
My uncle traded a 68 Runner off on his 71 Hemi Charger, and to this day,i thought the Runner was the better looking car.
As a 10 year old i loved that Road Runner,as it was done up as a day 2 car ,jacked up with big-n-little tires :waytogo:

The good old days when you could walk into alot of dealers, buy a car,and then stroll over to the Parts Department and buy hi-po goodies for it.

There was an orange one that sat around in an empty parking lot in Atlantic City for a few years in the late 90's.
