I'm looking to install a low profile sub under one of the front seats. I'm curious as to what would be a good choice. I'm also wondering how easy it is to wire them up, I have wired up entire sound systems on my previous vehicles but I have never done any on something this new are there anything specific I have to look for or certain ways to wire it up? Also if I want to wire an amp to power the speakers how would I do it and still maintain all the factory options/settings?

Which radio do you have? Whatever it is and you plan on keeping it will require an amp with speaker level inputs or you will need a line output converter. I think people tap into the door speaker for signal. Shouldn't be that difficult.

I have the 5.0 with 6 speakers, I mainly just wanted to know if all I need is a loc from rear speaker to amp to carry signal to the sub.

Loc or speaker level inputs on your amp will work. There are a few threads here about which speaker to tap. I thought people had trouble tapping the rear but that might only be with the alpine systems.

signal is signal it doesnt matter where you get it (on the 5.0 radio). radio or speaker. front or rear. i doubt a thin sub would fit with a box under your seat. you will probably have to build one for behind the seat.

I think the only one that has ever been talked about that sounded half ways decent is the kicker hideaway. I did one in a buddies Subaru forester and it sounded pretty decent and gave him the tactile feel of bass he was looking for but without being over powering.

Alpine has released a new one. Do your self a favor and turn up the volume slowly and listen to the rear speakers to see if they cut-out bass at all at higher volumes.

It used to be very common on Chryslers. You can try tagging the rears then. If you notice it having funky sound.. then tag the fronts.

cool thanks, any recommendation as to what LOC to buy does it really matter?

The new PAC Audio LOCs have resistors built into them to help the load on the head unit. I have "heard" of it being an issue for some people, but haven't ran into personally/.

I was looking into using Kicker 11HS8 Hideaway™ compact powered subwoofer: 150 watts and an 8" sub at Crutchfield.com that should be all I need correct? I want to keep it with one company and I don't want window shattering bass I just want a little more oomph is all. If I am reading correctly you can tap right into a speaker feed and set it at high input and auto turn on with dc voltage. So that would mean I don't need a dedicated wire for remote turn on correct?

Correct but you would still need to have an amp wiring kit to feed it power.

yea, or I run invisible wires hahaha. That is probably the route I will go that sub under the passenger seat and use an oxygen free copper 4 AWG kit to wire it and feed it off of the rear speaker and I'll be all set.

EDIT: seems like it comes with it's own wiring setup.
