Hey guys, I have a question for the 3rd gen owners and I'm hoping somebody will know this... Did the 2002-2008 Ram 1500 2wd trucks (non mega cab) come with different size rear axle housings? Meaning, was there more than one size axle housing that came on these trucks at any given time? I was under the impression that they all came with a 3 1/4" (give or take a few mm) rear axle tube but the other day I had a customer tell me he had a 3.5" (or maybe even slightly larger) rear axle housing on his truck. I thought these trucks only came with one size and if it is one size, does anybody know exactly what that size is? Or, if there are various rear axle sizes, does anybody know what years, submodel, package, etc. determined this? I only need to know this so that we can provide the correct U-bolts in our kits for the 3rd gen models. We have been providing U-bolts with a 3.31" ID and have never had any fitment issues with that size up until just the other day when a scenario came up on a 2004. The gentleman said the housing was about a 1/4" or more larger and our U-bolts wouldn't work. This left me scratching my head
so I came here to get some answers from the Ram gurus! Please let me know if you guys have any info on the 1500 2wd 3rd gen axle sizes! Thank you, I truly appreciate it -- Sean
But now I am somewhat confused lol
. Huh, that is really interesting. Thank you so much! Now I need to do some research! Have a great weekend! -- Sean
