Rear View Mirror Upgrade Question on my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman

Hi Guys (and possibly Gals),

I was wondering if the 2018 2500 6.4L Hemi 4x4 Tradesman Models are pre-wired for a auto dimming rear-view mirror. I was hoping I could reach in and hook a plug in clip as opposed to tearing apart the roof and console cover thing. I used to have a 1998 Ram 2500 with a slightly bigger auto dimming mirror and miss it quite a bit. The new 2018 has a very small regular ol' manual dimmer flip switch rear-view mirror...

Any ideas or what years would fit? I think it is the twist off mirror type but not sure on the truck currently...

No they are not. You will need the wire harness that plugs into the grey plug behind the passenger side dash end cap. I'm in the process of doing this to my 17 1500 tradesman. The harness part number is 68186009AC w/clearance lights or 68207372AB w/o clearance lights.

Do those harness numbers also include the wiring for the lighted sun visor option?

if you have the overhead console they might be there, but to the best of my knowlage that harness is glued to the headliner and is not available separate. it plugs into the green connecter behind the drivers side dash end cap.

Any update on this thread? I have a 2013 sport, I bought the mirror on eBay and it was plug and play but it does not dim. The switch is in the NAV and needs to be turned on. My local dealership doesn’t have a clue on how to turn it on. There is a thread on how to do it and I printed it out and they still couldn’t do it and they always ask.... did I buy the mirror from them. It’s a painful waist of time. I’m looking for a wiring diagram to just hard wire the diming feature if anyone has it.

Check out Alfa OBD thread in the DIY section. For less than $150 you can add the features that you want. I'm in the process of doing a lot of this stuff and the guys on here are always willing to help out if you have any questions
