I am looking at getting a hood stripe kit for my 16 ram rebel.

I found this Mopar one:
82211882AB

But am not sure if I should do this or go with like 3M kits that are cut similar and matte black on eBay.

For those that have this where did they purchase from? Self install vs how much paid for install?

Thanks in advance

Go to a reputable vinyl shop. Spend the money get it done right. Mine is only a little over a year old. I went the cheaper route. I have to replace it already. I’ll be going to get it redone by the big boys. It’ll cost a lot but it will also last longer. 856e25d36cb4c9f95f5afe0a720fea07.jpg

Yeah. I think what is throwing me off with the OEM is “carbon fiber” graphic. Is it perforated? Is it solid (looks solid in pic).

Is it actually carbon fiber weave print or is carbon fiber what they call the flat black color...

Yea. I definitely want a quality product. Don’t wanna have to redo it. Also want it to stand up to the elements of Chicago area winters. It’s also parked on driveway (safer from dents and dings from kids getting their things or even getting in and out of wife’s car).

Oh you’re from Chicago. You might be able to take it to where I’m going to take my truck to have it replaced. Where are you at

Eh that’s a little far. If you’re willing to drive to Kankakee there is a shop there called “fast lane wrap” just on the south side of Kankakee in a town called chebanse. They do everything from boats to race cars. You’ll also want to ask them if they can treat the vinyl with a ceramic coating for longevity. c773d9c06c50d3c4ad8ad6ea0e0c8e10.jpg9693c21315fcaa8dc19505d6fbaf7af0.jpg6dfa617af8b58a402422327b0faf86da.jpg5f46ce0e97588aa5787c70984516d8e7.jpg9721ae04030a357c95daa882d2091565.jpg9cce30c91ea26a056f4bf285f4665884.jpg

I’ll def reach out to them for a quote on installation. I don’t mind driving forvquality work. I like the idea of the ceramic coating.

I’m not sure if they do ceramic coatings to their vinyl or not. I never asked since I do my own, but they quoted me anywhere from 500 to 1000. To redo mine. They will remove any trim prices the vinyl crosses over and apply the vinyl underneath. You’ll never see a single cut off line.

I emailed them for information if they would install the Mopar decal or how much they would charge to make the decal themselves.

I highly recommend using their vinyl. Buying online you just don’t know what you’re really getting.

Their vinyl work looks pretty good.
As a side note--I was thinking if you live in Chicago would it be better(safer) to get a "Kevlar" wrap? LOL

I just bought hood and tailgate stripes from Black Top Graphix on eBay.

The vendor is on the FB 4th Gen Rams page and he can do custom decals.

Check him out!

Here is the custom hood vinyl I had done. It’s the regular sport hood strips with a carbon fiber mopar logo in the Center and the word MOPAR cut out of each side at the top

It’s not just a matte finish it actually has texture to the carbon fiber portion.

But if you do something like this. Do not ever get any sort of wax, or cleaner on it. I have both sides of my box wrapped with the same material and hit the edge of it slightly when waxing and it faded the carbon fiber badly

Do you have or can you take a close up of the vinyl. Is it carbon fiber weave pattern? Like this:

Yes it is a weave like that and you can feel it running your hand over it.

I will get you a picture close up tomorrow. It's dark now and raining hard so not going out now lol.

I like the Mopar Sport hood graphic. I've got it on my Ram and it's held up really well so far. The carbon fiber graphic is hard to describe.

It's not perforated and it's smooth so I apply sealant on it to keep it protected. It does have somewhat of a textured feeling to it when you run your hand over it.

It's more of a satin finish than matte in my opinion. I think it will last longer than the matte finish.

Thanks for your in depth opinion. I am waiting on a quote from my Ram dealer. I got a quote from a local shop to make the decal and install it.

I’ve seen pics of the Mopar Sport graphic and like it. Just have a hard time visualizing it in my head. Lol. I think it’s cuz it’s carbon fiber and in my mind I had flat/matte black as the color. This is not my truck but is identical to what my truck would look like when done.

I’ve seen a couple interesting ones online too. But again am afraid of quality concerns:

I think what sets the quality decals apart is their durability over time. The cheap ones will looks good for a couple of years and then more than likely get really chalky looking.
