Major Frustrations

03 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7L - 2" Body lift, 33 in tires - Rebuilt the transmission, new shift solenoid and can not get the tcm code to clear permanently. I will clear the code the truck drives and shifts perfect then after about the 3rd start it will fire with the check engine light on and runs in limp mode. I reset the code and the process starts all over...It will drive great then on the 2nd or 3rd restart engine light again for same TCM code..... I ordered a used TCM from ebay for $200, that was pre programed but still having exact same problem. Took it to my local mechanic who said the TCM is bad....... I explained that I just replaced it he said that's the only thing it could be. I thought well furk, i got ripped on the Ebay TCM. So I paid my local mechanic $650 to have one programmed and installed. Got it back today drove about 10 miles all was looking great, went to lunch, got back in the truck started up with no check engine light, and truck drove great for about 5 miles back to work again im feeling good....! I get back to work about 2pm shut it down get out of work about 5:30, Start the truck and BAM... the ****** truckin check engine light is on and the truck is in limp mode!!!!

I'm obviously going to take it back to the mechanic but im hoping to get some feed back from somebody that has had the same issue. Please Help i need my truck back! Thanks in advance.

You do the work? 5 speed? If you had someone do the work, take it back to them. If you did, did you make sure you put everything back in the right place and way? One wrong spring/bolt and you can mess up your trans.

Sorry I followed your thread and didn’t realize I was in the 3rd Gen section. My mistake.

Hello, did you ever figure out the reason it was going into limp mode? I've replaced every sensor and still limp mode. One of my valve springs just broke, could that be the reason it's been going into limp mode the last couple years? I'm about to replace the engine for $5k but what if that doesn't work :33:
