Dang...for $55 bucks, it should also tell me in a sweet and sexy voice, 'Hey, big boy, your tailgate is down!'

Exactly...I wish more people read up about Mag-Moss and how it can offer options to those who need it!

TXCOMT

Im somewhat familiar with Mag-Moss, its not an issue of knowing that it SHOULD be fixed, to me its an issue with dealers being lazy/"misinformed" or just downright greedy ****$.

They wont get paid as much for fixing my tailgate issue as they would for an out of warranty cam/lifter fix, so why not find any little thing to deny my fix? Yes, I know I can throw Mag-Moss in their face but why should I have to escalate something that should automatically be fixed without any grief?

if you are still under bumper to bumper warranty get in and try to get it fixed before it is up

I'm way past that. Pretty sure that is only 3y/60,000 kms in Canada. And I'm at just over 94,000 kms right now. I'll pass the Powertrain period by year end.

SOB, I just had 2 recalls done and now another one. I guess we just need to wait till once a year and take it in and say ok, rebuild it.

Dammit... I just got the U05 and U61 recalls done yesterday! :/

(*sigh*... I'm holding out until I see the notice on mopar.com before I schedule another trip.)

(don't mind me - I'm just being whiny)

Looks like we have to wait until September to get anything official from FCA.
Quote from CNET article on same topic, "Ram plans to notify customers and dealers about the recall on Sept. 14. Until then, the automaker advises customers to tie-down or otherwise secure any cargo."

If you haven't already found a temporary fix, this has 100% worked for me:
1. Remove the access panel from the tailgate. It is secured by a bunch of torx screws.
2. Unplug the wire harness running in to the actuator inside the tailgate (make sure you don't unplug your backup camera if applicable
3. Use the key inside your fob to lock/unlock the tailgate manually

I know I have a couple recalls to do on my 2017. I'd bet the recall comes to Canada eventually. They seem to like to do it in stages. My 2011 with column shift now has the auto park recall, but I have no interest in doing it. My 2017 has fuel tank calibration, auto park and cruise control recalls at the moment. I'll wait for a couple more or something to go wrong requiring dealer service before I worry about it. My tonneau latches to the tailgate so even if the tailgate latch released it should stay up anyways.

Recall is U74. "FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 1.1 million U.S.-market pickup trucks to upgrade their tailgate locking mechanisms.". Apparently this means they have an upgraded part that they plan to install.
