I have the following "Recalls and Campaigns" open on my truck. I just bought it used a month or so ago.
I know it depends on the dealership, but how much downtime am i looking at?

Reprogram Powertrain Control Module - FCA Recall #U61
2015-2017 Tailgate Latch - FCA Recall #U74
2013-16 DS & 2014-16 DX 8-Speed Rotary Shifter - FCA Recall #U07
Occupant Restraint Control Module - FCA Recall #U53

Don't have a spare vehicle for daily driving so without a loaner it'll have to be weekend work.

Should be less than a day to do all of those if they have the parts in stock.

I made an appointment for 8am and I was out by 11am, its all mainly a software flash aside from the little tailgate latch update. I just waited on mine at the dealership

The recalls can be done in 30 min. Keep in mind though when you make an appointment that doesn’t mean it goes in the shop at that time, the appointment is for being booked in. Depending on work load of the shop, it may go in right away or not for a bit.

in your guys opinions are they important ones to have done. i read the literature sent with them and some of them seem silly. like the shifter one, the vehicle may move when it is not in park,:insane:. or am i missing something that is more to it than common sense?

I did those two at a time (the earlier two when I bought the truck, and the latter two about 4 months later.)

Took maybe 3 hours total between them all? Both times, I parked myself into an empty sales cubicle in the dealership, and used VPN over their free wifi to continue working so I didn't have to eat time off for it.

(seriously - the nearest dealer to me is frickin' awesome - St. Helens Auto Group, in the small-ish city of St. Helens, Oregon.)

(It took around the same amount of time to replace the active grille shutters under warranty... *shrug* )

While i haven't scheduled these yet, I've noticed that my cruise control doesn't want to activate right away sometimes.

Any of these computer flashes deal with that? It still works but sometimes it waits a few miles before it cooperates.

I get the recalls done because someday if (when?) the poop hits the fan, a dealer/FCA can't say "well, if you had the recall done...".

Mine took about 2 hours for these. The most important IMO is the tailgate latch issue. It sucks when you're driving down the highway and you look in your mirror and see some poor ******** stuff all over the highway then you find out you're the poor ******* after your tailgate popped open.....

I just repaired the latch on my truck myself way before the recall and if they haven’t changed the design of the latch it will just do it again as soon as the little tab breaks off

That's because you didn't do it right.
They add a little part in the recall that prevents the tab from breaking off and if It's already broken off the little part prevents the excess travel that allows the tailgate to fall open.

My understanding is it prevents the tab from breaking. If it's already broken they replace the whole assembly with the original design and put the rubber stop in then so the new one won't break.

Not on mine, They put in the little part and down the road I went
They said they would replace the whole latch assembly if I wanted them to, but it makes no difference.
I looked at the thing and how it works and told them not to replace it.
They also told me that if it gave me any problems, Just bring it in and they'll fix it.
