I need to schedule an appointment at my local dealership soon to get the oil changed and recalls taken care of. This morning I received the "Vehicle Health Report" email stating I now had 4 recalls that needed to be handled!!!
-U05 - OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE
-U07 - 2013-16 DS & 2014-16 DX 8-SPEED ROTARY SHIFTER
-U61 - Reprogram Powertrain Control Module
-U74 - Tailgate Latch

Anyone know what the U05 recall is? The link to the PDF on FCA's website isn't working and I couldn't find any further detail searching around on google.

Regarding the other recalls, sounds like I should refuse U07 AKA AutoPark. Any other things I should know?

Hey there,

U53 is a customer satisfaction notification involving an update to the ORC module. The reason for this update is that in the event of a rollover accident, the seatbelt pretensioner may initiate without the Side Air Bag Inflatable Curtain deploying as designed. As with any customer satisfactions notifications or safety recalls, we encourage you to have this repaired as soon as possible at your local certified dealer at no cost to you. If you need further assistance, please PM us!

The u53 is just another computer flash, checked with my dealer this morning. He said it would be in and out in a jiffy. As soon as I get some time off I'll get mine done.

Unless you like having your truck slam into park when you open the door to see to get it on a set of ramps or to better see reversing a trailer, yes, I personally would recommend refusing that one.

Anyone know what recall U53 is about? I just got an email notice but when I inquired there is no info???
I was just in a couple weeks ago to get the tailgate, auto park & cruise control recalls done. They send an email saying there is a recall on MY vehicle and have a link button & when I click the link they want me to put in my VIN, which I did, and then there's no info on it except that it's recall U53. Hey Ram, WTF???

Lol I brought my truck in for a multitude of issues I wanted covered under warranty (hemi tick included) and they did all of the recall fixes without asking me. The next day I was at a campsite attempting to reverse with my door open and my truck kept shifting itself to neutral as soon as I let off the brake. I thought they somehow screwed up all of my electronics and was afraid to drive it home, and still had no clue it was an intentional thing until just now!

Just had this done on mine today. I was in and out in no time. Also discovered a screw in my right rear but they wanted $40 to patch it. I can have the tire shop close to home do it for $20. I never understand why these dealers can't keep there prices competitive. Its not like they are using a superior patch than what the independent shops use.

Funny, I clicked this link and it took me right back to this thread... :)
The moderators combined two threads. I was replying to indept question in another thread.

Ah OK, I started reading the first couple threads after clicking and was like....this sure seems familiar. :) But hey, my memory is so bad now-a-days, that I probably need to read things more than twice even....

Just had my truck in for regular service and to have the recalls done. Dealer did the tailgate fix and had the truck for several hours while they flashed some updates. Today I get my monthly service report from Ram and they are showing a U53 recall needed, dating back to this summer. When I go to the Ram site it correctly shows the updates/recalls that were done and shows my truck still needing the U53. When I click the link to the PDF file for U53 I get “not found”.

So, what is the U53 recall?

Thx,
DG

I just had the U53 recall installed, noticed the ESC icon was lit on dashboard, also now the frist 2 inches on the left side of 8 inch display has a mirror image below the normal image, it's like a ghost image just below the orignal image. The dealer said it is normal and had the service tech (do something) to remove the lighted ESC icon on the dashbord...Anyone else have reverse ghost image on the display? (this is only in AM, FM or XM mod using the Radio)

Thank you for your input about this.

If I read it correctly, it has to do with the side airbag not deploying in a rollover if there was not enough force to the sensor. I guess the idea is that they want that airbag to deploy, even in a "soft" rollover. Or turnover. Ask @indept. :D
