I have a 2017 ram with hemi currently with 275/65/20 LT nitto terra grapplers that need replaced.

I'm looking to go back to stock size/4 ply rated HT tire, or non aggressive at. (275/60/20)

My biggest need is wet traction, as I tow and launch a boat on many steep concrete ramps that may have a light film of river mud on them.

I do not really off road - the worst conditions I see are maintained dirt and gravel roads.

I do NOT want the Goodyear sras that came on the truck as they were awful. Not trying to spend Michelin money since I will likely be trading in the truck within 2 years.

I've looked at the falken HT2, but they are 8 lbs each heavier than the stock Goodyear- would that kill my mileage, even in a stock size? The kumho ht51 is only 1.5 lbs heavier than stock if that would increase mileage.

Thanks guys.

Everyone's got opinions but I think if you asked a thousand people the name you'd see most often is the Michelin LTX . I've run them in the past on a CUV and agree with every good thing anyone's said about them. Quiet, never wanting for traction whether stopping or going, tread life seems almost immortal.

Those Kumho HT51's look like a clone of the Michelin LTX, I'm certain they were aiming for the same market. Really good reviews too, might even be as good a tire. I believe for the US market the Michelins are made in the USA by a French company and the Kumhos are made in Vietnam by a Korean company if any of that matters to you.

If you are willing to spend the money, there is mo better tire on the road, for the use that you are describing, than the Michelin LTX M/S2

Buy the XL 116S terra grapplers instead, don't know why you had heavy duty load index rubber. No wonder you don't want AT's, must have ridden like a tank.

The stock SRA's don't weight much but they're such a POS tire that really any other tire blows them away in terms of performance and durability.
The closer you stay to their weight the best you'll do in terms of MPG assuming you stick with stock size.

Stockers GY SRA's in 275/60/20 are only 40lbs.
Candidate Replacements in the same size from tirereack.com:

Firestone Destination LE: 41lbs
Kumho CRUGEN HT51: 41 lbs
Kumho CRUGEN HP71: 41 lbs
Michelin DEFENDER LTX M/S: 42lbs
Michelin LATITUDE TOUR HP: 40lbs
General GRABBER HTS 60: 40lbs
Yokohama GEOLANDAR H/T G056: 42lbs
Bridgestone ALENZA A/S 02: 40lbs
BFGoodrich ADVANTAGE T/A SPORT LT: 40lbs
Cooper EVOLUTION H/T: 42lbs
Cooper DISCOVERER SRX: 40lbs
Pirelli SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON PLUS II: 40lbs
Continental CROSSCONTACT LX20 Ecoplus: 40lbs
Hankook DYNAPRO HP2: 42lbs

I like the Bridgestones cause they look sportier, that's assuming i did anything with that ***** looking thread :) All i can think is maybe something i'll do to my wife Dodge Durango AWD but definetely not something i'll do to my RAM.

Has anyone ran the falken ht2? Local guy has them for $625 out the door. Wonder how they compare on wet roads to the at3w

Bridgestone Dueler LTH - discount tire exclusive - THEY claim it's on par with the Defender but a tad cheaper. I have them on my truck and I am very happy with them. 70K mile treadlife warranty too...

Have Cooper Discoverer SRX on my sons 13 RWD crew cab. Ride great and he's not had a problem at a boat ramp yet. The SRA's were terrible on ramps but good for rolling burnouts.
