I have a 2017 ram 1500 with a 5.7 liter hemi does anyone know what type of gas I should be putting in it.
Recommended fuel according to owner's manual is 89 octane. I personally run 93 octane top tier gas, several run 87, according to the owners manual they recommend 89 but 87 is ok.

89 recommended. 87 is ok, but you'll notice diminished performance since it's going to pull timing. I fill it with premium if I'm going to be towing the travel trailer. 89 to tow the boat though.

I run Shell 93 or Chevron 93 if I can't find a shell station. Since my truck can sit for a while at times I also run an ethanol additive every couple of tanks as I've seen what happens to tanks that this E10/E15 crap sits in for while. My truck never really cared for 87 and since I run 93 in everything else hitting the 93 selector at the pump is just force of habit for me. Depending on your driving conditions the cost difference really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things and if I was worried about fuel costs I wouldn't have bought a Hemi as my daily driver.

I pumped in 89 Oct for everyday driving.
When I would take her on road trips I would pump in 91 Oct. (That's the highest rating we can get @ the pumps in my region).

I take that ALL with a grain of salt due to I'm not 93% confident ----> Just because I pushed the 89 or 91 Oct button / doesn't mean I'm actually getting what I am paying for.

Now: Since we went Diesel -->We only have 1 choice.
Less to think about: The fun begins researching diesel fuel additives!

The wife runs 87 in her 16 5.7 Challenger. It's a bonestock shaker hood car with nothing more then a legmaker carbon fiber intake tube and a Moroso catch can,car runs 13.90's whether it's got 87 or 91 in the tank. Put a catch can on the truck and it'll run 87 perfectly fine,as the can cleans up the **** sucked into the intake and doesn't dilute the fuel /air charge as much. The crap sucked out of the crankcase through the PCV system basically lowers the octane rating of the fuel your using,so if you run a catch can with 87,it's very close if not better to running 89 with-out a catch can

Do you know if the catch can is available for the 2500's with a 6.4 hemi yet.

Check with Moroso or Billet Technologies.

It's not the catch can per say, it's that the pvc system on the 6.4 has internal plumbing. I believe it was rampant that had it figured out how to install a catch can on the 6.4 but it took several modifications and drilling some holes. From what he said it's possible but an involved process, not the plug and play deal like the 5.7.

No and it doesn’t need to because of the way the 6.4 is engineered. I’ve been all over this idea with my own truck
