Have a black out package from the factory on my 2018 Big Horn. But a few things always bothered me. The chrome exhaust tips, got 5” ones and had them powder coated black, the silver factory antenna, painted black now with exterior black trim paint, and the bright red factory taillights and third brake light. Got Axial taillights from American Truck but didn’t like any of their third brake lights. Then I finally found a third brake light from a company called Recon. I installed it this week. It looks amazing, exactly what I envisioned, but there were some problems with installation. After I installed it I looked behind it and noticed there was a gap between the gasket and the truck. So I ran to hardware store and picked up some foam weatherstripping. I removed their thin gasket, installed some foam weatherstrip, then stuck their gasket back over it. It was pretty thick then. And then to be sure it wouldn’t leak, a thin coat of RTV silicone over the gasket. Screwed it down this time and the new gasket was clearly thick enough, actually some silicone squeezed out. All and all it looks awesome. Almost factory looking, doesn’t look like a cheap add on. But for the price, I shouldn’t have had to re engineer the gasket. But I had no choice, it clearly would have leaked. The only other complaint is the led cargo light is not as bright due to the smoked lens. Overall though, very happy. I will post some pics right after the damn snow stops.
