2014 1500 Laramie. Remote start starts but only stays on for about 30s. I walked up to it recently and saw an announcement on the dash that said something like Remote Start Malfunction or something like that. Any ideas?

That's what mine did when it was throwing the evap/gas cap code. Once I cleared the code with my OBD2 MX it would work fine until the next time it threw a code. I replaced the evap solenoid and no more problem.

Try starting the truck without using the Remote Start function. Just press the brake and the start button on the dash.

Thanks. It does have a code from the ambient temp sensor. Added an aftermarket mirror and it's throwing that code. Says it's 185° F outside all the time. Maybe that's the issue.

So finally resolved this. I wasn't aware that the remote start wouldn't work if the check engine light was on. Just replaced the ambient temp sensor ($11 at the dealer), light went out, remote start working fine now.

I also learned that if the cruise control button is not functioning neither will the remote start. I have the notorious Cruise switch issue where I need to smack the steering wheel every so often to get the cruise button to work, noticed last week if its acting up, remote start will not work.

Not aware of this problem. I assume you've tried contact cleaner in the buttons? That solved an issue I was having with the door lock button.

Low fuel, door open, hood open,. MIL light on, myriad of reasons why not work.

LIST FROM MANUAL:
REMOTE START — IF EQUIPPED
How To Use Remote Start
All of the following conditions must be met before the
engine will remote start:
• Gear selector in PARK
• Doors closed
• Hood closed
• HAZARD switch off
• BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pushed)
• Battery at an acceptable charge level
• PANIC button not pushed
• Fuel meets minimum requirement
• System not disabled from previous remote start event
• Vehicle security alarm not active
Remote Start Abort Message
The following messages will display in the instrument
cluster display if the vehicle fails to remote start or exits
remote start prematurely:
• Remote Start Cancelled — Door Open
• Remote Start Cancelled — Hood Open
• Remote Start Cancelled — Fuel Low
• Remote Start Cancelled — System Fault
• Remote Start Disabled — Start Vehicle to Reset
The instrument cluster display message stays active until
the ignition is turned to the ON/RUN position.
To Enter Remote Start Mode
Push and release the Remote Start button on the key fob
twice within five seconds. The parking lights will flash,
vehicle doors will lock, and the horn will chirp twice (if
programmed). Once the vehicle has started, the engine will
run for 15 minutes.
NOTE:
• If your power door locks were unlocked, Remote Start
will automatically lock the doors.
• If an engine fault is present or fuel level is low, the
vehicle will start and then shut down in 10 seconds.
• The park lamps will turn on and remain on during
Remote Start mode.
• For security, power window and power sunroof operation
(if equipped) are disabled when the vehicle is in the
Remote Start mode.
• The engine can be started two consecutive times (two
15-minute cycles) with the key fob. However, the ignition
must be placed in the ON/RUN position before you
can repeat the start sequence for a third cycle.

Just sending you the info, BOIRD not an educator, lmao (been there, done that like teaches classes and and in a different life). If you do not have a manual, go to Mopar site and download. There was added stuff about remote start, wasn't gonna copy 5 pages of manual, LOL. Those were all the non-start info.

Desertdawg here. My remote on my '13 5.7 Laramie is not consistent. Sometimes it starts from inside my house, other times not even when I'm 10 feet away! I changed the battery, but no better.
I'll get some contact cleaner. Thanks!

No, this is more along the lines of a spring in the button assembly maneuvering itself out of place.
