I have a 3rd gen Ram. 2007 Quad Cab Hemi.

Here is my problem. I would like to add remote start. I am very familiar with the complexity of wiring and would like to do this myself. I have read wonderful things about the Xtreme DBALL. However, I dont think it will work for me. My factory keyfobs are ****. I posted problems months ago about the range on my factory keyfobs. I literally have to be at the door for my keyfob to lock/unlock doors. NO range at all. I have replaced batteries 3 times and have no idea why they will not work.

I would like to add remote start solution and get a new keyfob that will let me lock/unlock my doors again finally.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You will still need the dball (or any type of module) instead of programming it for the rsr method it just get programmed for the truck. then you hook the remote start up to that.

I'm not familiar with what rsr means. I would like to use an inexpensive remote start like Bulldog RS1100. But I would like to not use my truck's current key. I have the one with the fob built onto the key. Will the DBALL module allow me to use a standard key? I'm too new to this in general.

I have wired starter-interlock devices, GPS tracking devises, compressors, radios, etc for my company fleet and can read drawings well. I just don't know how is best to bypass the sentry key system and let me use a cheap remote start with door lock control.

rsr is the industry term for "remote start ready"

I personally would stay FAR away from a bulldog brand.. i would look into a better brand like a dei product (viper, python) , compustar, auto page.

for around 100-150 you can get an entire plug and play system dball+t-harness+remote start with little or no wires that need to be cut or spliced!

Thanks... I will start researching. Any particular model that is easiest or readily available? $150 would be maxing my budget, but if I could find something a little lower that would be great!

I just found this model by compustar, but at that price point, I am not sure it includes everything I need.

CompuSTAR CS-700S Remote Car Start Starter with Keyless Entry Engine Starter (CS700S) on Amazon

Look at Xpress Start One. You can pick your platform..... Viper, Clifford, Python. It has the DB-ALL bypass built in, remote start and security options. You can add on all kinds of features.... smart start, aux options.

I wanted security, so I went with the Python 5710p 2 way remote start, security model. Install was alright. It took me and a DEI experienced installer about 5 hours to do a thorough and complete install (beer included). I bought it from Beach Audio through eBay for $270. No complaints yet! (only been on truck for a month).

Something to remember is that every DEI module has to be flashed for your vehicle. Some sellers will give you the option, others won't. If you go with the Xpress Start setup you will need to have a DEI account accessible at the time of install....

JUST INFO: DEI (Xpresskit) has always tried to eliminate the DIY'ers. Customer service sucks once you tell them that you are trying to install yourself. They are continuing to move in that direction by requiring the units need to be flashed, installed in the vehicle and then taken back out to the computer to finish being flashed/programmed.

^^ thats not a bad way to do it. they also make a t-harness that makes it almost plug n play.

your other option (which i have done before on my '11 durango) is use a different brand idatalink. these are a little easier to get programmed. some ebay sellers will program it for you before they ship it.

Here is their t-harness:
Idatalink Ads HRN CH4 T Harness Interface Module | eBay

module:
Adsalca Ads Al CA Idatalink Ads Alca 64 Bit Module | eBay

remote kit:
Flashlogic Pursuit FLRF2 | eBay

This wont be an alarm, but it will be a keyless and remote start. there are many different types of remote kits available for these this was just one of them
