I was thinking about adding a remote start to my 2016 Ram and was looking at a company called 12 volt solutions, any thoughts on this company or any other one I should be looking at

I have talked to them over the phone about another car, they seem like they would be easy to deal with and very helpful.

Bought mine from them and have had to reprogram it (not thier fault) and they have provided excellent service and support..which remote start you looking at? I got the CHD-6-D3 Diesel and the cellular option and it has been amazing..if you go with this type of remote start (it pretty much plug and play) let me know I have some tips for you..

I’m sure theirs works just fine, but they’re wanting about $100 more that what you could spend on similar plug n play solutions. This one works the exact same way, and you flash it yourself- https://www.ebay.com/p/Flashlogic-F...m=162830618104&_trksid=p2349526.c100854.m4779

As of the last I dug through the internet the programing had to be accessed by a DEI dealer..it used to be readily available and may now be available again but not that I could find. The process that these remote starts use is that it's plugged up and copies a config file, it then gets removed and either you send it back to dealer or buy a programer (which still requires dealer to allow you access but no back and forth shipping) then once module is programed with options you want (run time, wait to start etc) plug back up and all works.
I purchased the programer as well as the unit and it has proved useful as I have wanted to change the setup and 12v solutions has always been there to give free support and reprogramming through their site..
I'm hesitant to believe this will happen through eBay but if you go that way please let everyone know how it goes..

I do the flashlogics frequently. ANYBODY can register and flash them with the weblink updater cable (included with the kit I linked above)- https://www.idatalink.com/weblink/
It literally takes someone 40 minutes to install and flash if it’s their first time doing it, and 15-20 minutes anytime after that.

That's awesome! Glad things have progressed to that level of DIY! Great info..

Fyi, last I tried to register with them (a year ago) they required you to be a dealer, and the linked kit you posted says no USB cable and nothing about the programer?

Kinda of an oldish thread, I recently added Remote Start functionality to my 2016 SLT.

I purchased a FlashLogic CH-10 remote start kit on eBay from an individual seller for less than half the cost of retail.
I've seen the videos on YouTube and they seem to be all related, as in using the iDatalink weblink feature to update the firmware for the vehicle's make/model.

The kit I purchased came with the USB weblink module for the required firmware. I am not certain if that is a separate purchase or not, but what I received had the USB weblink module. The harness was labeled as version 1.30. The instructions that came with the kit did show version 1.20.

For FlashLogic, using windows 7 (I am sure Win10 is the same), and with tip-start:

1. Connect USB weblink module (drivers downloaded automatically)
2. Connect weblink module to the FlashLogic interface/module (see instructions as to which port to connect the weblink module to the FlashLogic module).
a. follow instructions, .NET and java? is required, weblink/iDatalink will notify you if it is required and prompt if for install.
3. Create weblink account.
4. Flash module via weblink feature from website. (Do Not Close Browser)

5. Install the harness (light switch / OBDII (connection optional) /ignition key) Don't put the cover(s) back on or reinstall the kick panel.
6. Follow the instructions (turn key, verify lights flashing on the remote start module, etc..) If the results do not represent the instructions, turn key off and try again.
7. If the results match the instructions, then unplug the FlashLogic module and hook up to the computer.

8. Disconnect FlashLogic module and connect to weblink module that is attached to the computer, complete the 2nd part.
9. Once completed, reconnect FlashLogic module to the vehicle.
10. Follow the instructions.

If all goes well, remove start should be enabled/available.

The kit comes/came with a hood and door pin wiring harness, but these are not needed, just an optional feature. Remote start functionality is still available without enabling these features.

If anyone wants the USB Weblink module/interface, hit me up and I will gladly send for $5, approximate USPS shipping cost.

In summary, I spent less than half the retail cost for a FlashLogic Ch-10 for remote start functionality, and never had to pay a third party to do step 2.

I actually just ordered the 12 volt solutions kit a couple days ago. Tracking number says it should be here Saturday, but probably won't be able to install it until Sunday afternoon. Will let you know how the install goes! I will have to send the module back to them to program it, as I didn't want to spend the extra $100 to be able to do it myself.

Update: I installed the wiring harness (easy!!) and shipped the module back to them for programming on Monday. They received it Wednesday, programmed it, and shipped it back to me the same day, and I received the module back yesterday. I hooked up the module this morning, followed the four or five steps to finish programming it to the truck, and it works just fine!! Only time will tell how it will hold up, but I did purchase their "forever warranty" when I purchased the kit, so if there are any problems it should be taken care of, no questions asked. I started it three times using the remote start, and all three times it fired right up. I'm definitely impressed with it so far!
