I believe that the 2016s you'll have to buy the remote start kit (comes with new rf hub, antenna, hood latch and key fobs) should run about $250 then have the dealer add the sales code. @Jimmy07, I don't recall if alphaobd can activate remote start or something with the rf hub, on 2013-16 truck's.

Last I knew, AlfaOBD can’t do a new rf hub and fobs (unless it’s push button start). It’d be worth a try for someone that already has the software, but I’d hate to recommend someone buy it for that reason and it not work.

@Henry50, like said there’s a kit for factory remote start. Here’s a link to the one you would need- https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem...wJnk9MjAxNiZ0PWJpZy1ob3JuJmU9NS03bC12OC1nYXM=

Here’s the install instructions to look over- https://www.imagesmartdealer.com/mopar_accessories_isheet/K6861642.PDF

It’s pretty involved, but it’s not all that hard. This is how people traditionally do the install by themselves, THEN take it to the dealer to have the sales code added: they’ll do the entire install of hard parts EXCEPT for plugging in the new rf hub. This allows you to drive the truck to the dealer. Once there, they just plug the new hub in, program the fobs, and add the sales code.

Another option that’s much cheaper and easier to install is this aftermarket kit- https://www.amazon.com/Flashlogic-F...t=&hvlocphy=9021575&hvtargid=pla-810560065886

This is 100% plug n play, comes with the cable to flash it yourself, and takes about 45 minutes to install. It’s three connectors above the brake pedal you plug a t-harness into. This lets you use your existing fob by pressing lock button 3x.

FWIW, pretty sure the dealer had a 3rd party install the flash logic remote start. I absolutely hate it. The range is like 25-30 feet, maybe 50 feet. Not nearly far enough to cool the truck down in summer.

Spend the extra, do the work, and get the oem kit. I'll be doing that in the future.

If you don’t like the range of the flash logic (or any kit that uses the factory fob), don’t get the factory remote start. The range is exactly the same, since they use the same fob transmitter. I have both installed simultaneously. Good thing about the flashlogic is, you can add the drone mobile add on so you can remote start from anywhere with your phone.

The factory kit should have an antenna and a new fob (at least it does if you do the keyless n go). The one on my JGC had a particularly long range.

The antenna is necessary just to receive the signal from the fob, not make the range of the fob farther. I can assure you the range is the same between the two. I’d just hate for you to spend all that money on a new kit that’ll disappoint you with the same results. I would use the kit you have now and add this drone mobile to it- https://www.ebay.com/i/162788296878...MI3MPCh4Lx5AIVjcDACh1LVQrhEAUYASABEgITZfD_BwE

I think I paid $72 for this year and can remote start with my phone from anywhere that the phone and truck have cellular signal.

That's a cool piece of tech. Might try it out.

I do plan on installing the keyless n go with the oem remote start in the future.
