Repair. Nightmare!!!

So, on Jan. 20th (my bday) a lady ran a red light and T'd my truck! Long story short the body shop and my local dealer say that the front axle I need won't be available until early May! They are telling me it's on international back order. Has anybody else had to deal with this before? I really need my truck back and don't want to wait until May.

Contact your insurance company. If it is her fault, her insurance should be providing you with a rental. Seems an excessive time though.

Lawyer up. If that thing needs a new axle, that truck will never be the same. I would sue for a new truck.

I might have to look in to a lawyer. The lady hit my driver side right on the wheel. Cracked the rim and bent a bunch of stuff. They had to replace all the suspension components and then found that the axle had a crack in it! They said they wouldn't be able to see if the frame is bent until they replace everything and try to align it?

Um, that's ********. That's what frame machines are for.
Maybe this shop cannot properly handle a repair like this.

You took a shot in the wheel hard enough to crack the axle and bend all the suspension parts. I'd be willing to be the frame is bent.

If you need your truck, her insurance company has to provide one while yours is in the shop. How close is it to being totaled?

I hit a telephone pole sliding on the ice one year, and crunched the left front corner of my car hard. Tore up the left side suspension and fender. Went through left wheel bearings about every 6 months after that. My guess is that they never got the frame right. I would see about getting another vehicle.

Hiring a lawyer always gets the ball rolling on issues like that. I find it very hard to believe that the axle is on back order.

I'm meeting with the insurance guy on Monday. I went to the body shop that the local dealer where I bought it recommended! They have three racks, so I don't see y they wouldn't check the frame now? The officer didn't see the accident so per his words "he doesn't have to issue a ticket". It's bull. The one witness that stopped said he THOUGHT I had a green light, so the cop didn't giver her a ticket. Her insurance is declining liability as of now. Also, they are using the replacement value to determine if it's totaled and they value it at 34k which is too high. Right now the repair total is around $8,800 and insurance says it needs to be at least 75% of the value in repairs to total it. I'm hoping at this point they find frame damage and the body shop says it's not safe to fix it. I tow a lot and don't want things not lining up right wearing out early.
