I bought a RES radio from a guy with a 2013 Wrangler. He was nice enough to go ahead and get the unlock code for me, If I ever get it installed. What I was needing to know, is there some type of conversion cable from my harness to the newer type RES radio plug, and if it will work once it's plugged up?
Didn't really see anything on here that answers these questions.

Thanks

First you need to know that all vehicles from 2005 on are required to use the can-bus system.
Saying the above there is a very high probability that the stereo you got for free will not work in your truck at all. If you want to replace your radio with a new one then I suggest you get an aftermarket one that will work with no problems, all you will have to buy extra is a harness that will adapt the new stereo to your trucks wiring harness which most car audio shops should have on hand.

I'm aware that it would be much easier to go with an aftermarket radio. I was curious if anyone had dug into the IC pin-outs and circuit board to bypass the check for can-bus response.
