I read several threads on the topic of speaker upgrades and I'm still confused. I just want to upgrade the front and rear speakers (no amps and no new headunit). Some say the fronts are 6.5, some say 6X9. Which is it? When I had a F150, the "Kicker Upgrade" was the most popular speakers. I put the Kicker KS speakers in it and like it very much. Haven't read much about Kickers in the Ram. What is the preferred door speaker? Thanks.

The door speakers (front and rear) are 6x9.
For the second question, which system do you have?

I have a 2013 and I went with 6x9 Infinity Reference REF-9632ix in all 4 doors and I love them. I do have them set up on a separate amp but the stock system shouldn't have an issue running them. I did have a shop install them because I was having them install another amp for my subs and other goodies. Full disclosure though these fit my rear doors just fine in the factory location but in the front doors I think they had to trim a bracket that sat behind the speaker. But I believe a couple of washers and some foam gasket would have also given me the needed clearance for them.

Here's the link for the speakers I have in my doors:

Are you looking to upgrade your front dash corner speakers? The reason I ask is those speakers are what's going to give you the most treble from music and sound imaging. The doors are more for the mids and lows. For my dash corners I have these:

They are a tad on the bright side for me. But for cheapies they really aren't bad. I'm thinking about switching them out for these:

or these:

I also noticed that the Kicker 6X9s don't seem to fit the front door panel. Is that correct? On Crutchfield the only 6X9s for the front doors are Pioneer and MTX. I've always been a Kicker and Sony speaker guy.

The new 47KS6904 fit, I installed the 47KSS6904 in my Jeeps doors...so I know they will fit. And the CSC will fit.

I had a kicker upgrade that was from my 2006 grand cherokee.
Curiosity got the best of me so i tried it in the ram.....sure as ****, plug and play.

I think i had to use the adaptor plates (1/4") for depth.

I am curious if the older cherokee/durango upgrades are cheaper since they are older.

Do GCs and 1500s have the same door panels? Wondering why Crutchfield doesn't show any Kickers that fit the front doors.
They need to update, the CSC and new 47KSS will fit, the new 47KSS have a whole new design, almost zero tweeter protrusion.
They'll fit.

Yeah I would hop on Crutchfield's live chat to confirm fitment. That's what I did before I purchased my infinitys. I only have one 6x9 option for the front door that fits per their website but they have all the clearance measurements when you talk to them.

If I would have installed the speakers myself I would've built a spacer for my front door speakers. The front doors have more top clearance than they do bottom clearance because of a bracket behind them. I forgot what the top clearance was but I think it was in the ball park of 3/8" clearance. So I would have just fabricated an 1/8" spacer out of abs or similar material and been good to go.

Will Kicker KS 6X9s require spacers on the front doors? I have read that they are too deep for the front.

The new 47KSS come with all the spacers you will need, if any.

Crutchfield sometimes is wrong on whether a speaker fits or not. i went to another website that stated a certain speaker does fit when CF stated it didn't fit! And it actually did fit!

+1 what Misfit77 said. Mopar sells a Kicker performance upgrade speaker that fits perfectly in the Ram. It’s a 2 way system with Mopar connectors, matched ohms and tweeter cutoff already installed. They are a bit more than aftermarket Kickers but are plug and play and sound fantastic.

You can get a 6x9" to 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" plate for the front door if you can't find 6x9s that you like. I'm guessing the reason the 6x9 will not fit is because of the manet size. I had the same problem and went kicker 6 1/2" in the front door and 6x9 in the rear. I really like the sound. It's my first time ever having kicker coaxials. I'm normally an Infinity and Polk fan. Kicker was the only one that had 3 1/2" for the dash which matched the sound/specs I wanted.

Hope this helps!

If you want the best sound for the price, go with Rockford power 3-way 6x9’s. Have them in my back doors, and the bass is amazing.

Do you have a link for the Kickers you used? Thanks...
