Will our 1500 5.7L trucks run the stock tune with aftermarket LT headers installed, without throwing codes or running like garbage? I'm thinking of future resale value and whether or not one would need to remove/replace LT headers before resetting the tune from HF to stock. I remember reading somewhere it's possible, without proper tuning, headers will cause airflow codes. This is a problem if one trades-in a modded truck to a dealership and they reflash the pcm. Private buyers for these modded trucks are also few and far between.

I was hoping to have LT ARH headers welded on this Spring. But I may rethink that if future problems are likely.

What are you doing for cat converters? Hi-flows can throw a code but with the spark-plug anti-fouler mod, should be ok. If you go with their cat-less y-pipe, you can have a shop weld in your factory cats which would not throw a code.

Honestly, you could probably go cat-less y-pipe and when you goto trade it in, remove the tune at the dealership. It will take a good 15-30 mile drive before the computer picks up on the cat code :D

The truck will drive perfectly fine with the headers and no tuning, but may trigger an occasional code every couple months or so...But like said above, if you install spark plug non-foulers, you are much less likely to throw any codes with or without tuning.

And you should always remove your tune prior to having the dealer service the car. Headers/Intake/PTB/EFan/P&P Head/ect wont void a warranty but you also dont need a tune installed to get warranty service. If you go with a supercharger or the likes, your dealer may have to flash unless you speak to them prior and some dealerships wont let it fly.

Yes, high-flow cats would also be installed. Cali is more strick on emissions, unfortunately. I forgot all about non-foulers though. Thanks! I'm trying to set up the next owner for success.
