This is a new issue. System is a retrofit RA3 with NAV upgrade a couple of years old. I believe the RA3 is 2015.
This past Saturday when using the GPS the voice was tinny and sounded like an old transistor radio. After a while the voice returned to normal but it was intermittent. NAV volume is set at 24. The SXM played normally.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. I doubt it is speaker related due to the “radio” playing normally. Later I am going to try to turn off speed controlled volume (currently set to 3) to see if it has any impact.
Thanks for reading.

Quick update, turning off speed volume control had no effect and ALL uconnect announcements sound terrible. Next check will be to change the audio to the left front speaker to listen to the sound quality.

Left front channel is weak. I guess the head unit is going bad. Oh well. Might be time to move on to an aftermarket device.

The door speaker and the dash speaker are wired together. Are you sure the door speaker isn't blown and all you're hearing is the 3" dash speaker?

@dwhutch the problem is intermittent. After I checked and posted yesterday the left front channel picked up again. The door speaker and dash speaker worked but I will next focus on the door speaker as the culprit. The speakers are all Kicker replacements so at least I still have the stock speakers to try out.

Intermittent sounds like a connection issue, I'd look closely at the door speaker wiring adapter. How many miles on the truck, could be the speaker wires almost broken in the harness where the door opens and closes. I had that on a Ford Expedition once, had to run new wires through the door.

Only 24k miles. I pulled the speaker but got interrupted so I then it back together. I will ohm out the speaker to see if it is OK when I get a chance.

To wrap this up, the left front Kicker speaker failed at 3 years old. I found a pair of Pioneer TS-G690 at the local Best Buy and they also had the Metra 72-6514 adapters in stock. Confirmed the adapters were the correct polarity and replaced both front speakers. All working properly now.
