I was looking to purchase this truck, huge red flag here though. Is it possible this is typo? Door sticker is showing 758lb payload. Please see attached for original window sticker and what ram spits out of their website as well.

That's what it says on the Ram Trucks website 758lbs payload and 10533lbs towing. Maybe that is a typo there, no way the payload is that low for a 4x2 crew sport. Find out what the curb weight is and find the max GVWR for the truck....you'll probably find it to be 1758lbs...

Pulling up the build sheet the truck has 22" wheels and with it a reduced GVWR of 6200 lbs.

If I had the dealer change the wheels would I gain that back or at that point should I just find another truck? Maybe it was built w 22s but I don't think it has them on there currently

It is actually the suspension that lowers the GVWR.

The wheels are just the indicator you have the R/T or sport.

The information is correct. @Cmay2023 you are looking at a truck that is suspension tuned for something other than hauling and towing

Yep, a truck for some that wants to drive a truck and never use it like a truck. I know one or two people who have shiny beds after years of use, they just use the cab. One doesn't even have a scratch in the hitch receiver tube. They love their truck. Told them I will buy it if they ever sell it.

These are aftermarket wheels with 20" tires and likely won't have the same limitations. Unfortunately the GVWR and the axle ratings are part of the federally mandated sticker which can't be changed. If you run into a sufficiently motivated cop he will write a ticket for over weight.

BTW the build sheet also shows this:
Company Car Tracking
Marketing / Public Relations Vehicle
Sold Vehicle
Special Scheduling Condition VII
Reliability Test Vehicle

I would pass on the vehicle because it likely has been beat on by a number of people.

Or a car for that matter :) Me, a couple of my fat friends and our golf clubs (not to mention beer) and we'd be overloaded!! Yeah, some Rams have ridiculous payloads.

My buddy had a 1500 Ram Laramine with every bell/whistle possible and his payload was a stout 1070#. I'm pretty sure he was over loaded BEFORE attaching his 30' travel trailer (people in the truck, canopy, dogs, firewood). I finally convinced him how the weight game was played and he now drives an F350! Problem solved.

Dang! That's only 31 pounds more than the payload limit on my 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia!

So you're saying the same Highway Patrol that pulls over big rigs is going to pull over a pickup truck? Any other cop is not going to be weighing your truck. Ultimately for an owner to know where they are at is take the truck to a cat scale. Once you know the dry weight and you know the gross vehicle weight rating you just find the difference for your payload. Personally I would take it to the cat scale full of fuel the.

My 2016 crew cab sport with 22 inch wheels has a payload of 884 lbs. subtract passenger weight and you can carry maybe
200 lbs. ok for me though as I rarely carry more than 100 lbs but once did haul about 800 lbs on a 150 mile trip with no issues.
