We have a stock 2016 Ram 1500 RT. My boyfriend is looking at a 6" lift. He's been doing some online research and finding differing info. He's looking at 22" wheels with either 35 or 37 inch tires. He's seen that the lift and wheel/tire combo could cause trans issues, but he's also seen that it doesn't. Any suggestions? Any real-life experience with a lift/wheel combo like this?

Thanks!!

What is the purpose of the build? Offroad or on road only?

4x4 or RWD?

8 speed assuming?

What rear gear? 3.92?

Definitely need more info about the truck. 37s with 3:21 gears is definitely a big jump and will be more sluggish. If it truly is an RT model then it should be factory 3:92 gears and the 5.7 hemi which with 37s is still going to be sluggish. 35s won’t be as bad with the 3:92 gears. If he definitely wants 37s Could swap gears to 4:56 and be fine. Honestly being a 2wd I would look into swapping gears anyways since it’s a lot easier and with 4:56 gears will really help off the line and around town mpg with the heavier tires. He will lose some fuel economy on the highway though.

She mentioned RT so factory RCSB 5.7 hemi 3:92 if it is an RT. Which also would be a 2wd.

If you do a 4" lift go 35's.

6" go 37's to fill the wheel wells.

8 speed can handle it no problem.

I have 110,000 on the lift and 136,000 miles total. Completely worth it!!
But 35's on 6 inch looks good too .... then you don't "need" to re-gear ....

Because you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done .... and pavement princess, really? Is that all you have ? lol ... you are too much dude seriously, get off your high horse, you regeared your truck yourself and you think you are the only one that can pull it off?

Money is the key, don't be mad because it's been done, that will be the day I go hunting for someone who has it done just so that you are happy lol .... please homeboy you got your fools mixed up
