Hello All,
Recently picked up 14' 2500 4x4 CC. It's lifted 3.5" in front and 1" rear. After reading through a number of threads here and looking at the Thuren website, it appears that +18 to 25mm offset is ideal. My question is if I ran an +18 or 25 wheel with 35x12.5 tires, would I have much poking out? I like the aggressive stance of it, but don't like getting 30 yards out of the driveway and having mud slung all over the side of the truck. I want a little poking OK, and I do plan on getting some fender flares at some point, I just don't want so much that it wears hard on the equipment and/or flings mud all over. What about a 0" offset?
Also, other than looks, is there any advantage to a 20" rim over an 18" rim? Does the 18" give more cush because there's more air/rubber? Does the 20" handle highway speed better with less sidewall flex?

Thanks!
- Johnny

hey Johnny, ill chime in here but i did a 6 inch lift and 3.8x11.8 cooper stt pros. i had 20x10 rims and i can tell you the whole set up just looked small for the truck haha but the ride was pretty plush on those rims really. also, no rubbing issues with a -19 offset and 4.5 backspace. your best bet is custom offsets gallery and search for exactly what your doing to see what others say. i had about 2.5 inches poke out with no fender flares and barely ever had rocks kick up.

I ran a 20x8.5 Centerline wheel with a +32 offset and it still stuck out slightly (using a 35x12.5 tire), but just barely past the factory flares. It's hard to find any aftermarket wheels for these trucks that don't stick out considerably. The 20" will certainly be heavier and probably ride slightly rougher than an 18" wheel/tire. But the ride quality will also be very dependent on the tire you choose and what pressures you're running. Never ran 18's on my truck but with the 20's it handles pretty well considering it's a 7200lb boat.

For reference I’m running a -12 offset wheel, 18x9 with 37x13.50 Cooper SST’s on a 5” lift and it’s just covered by my aftermarket fender flares.

If memory serves me right ... +18 will just clear stock fenders and +0 will just clear factory fender flares.

Did the +32's rub at all?

Remember, offset is the distance from the wheel mounting surface to the wheel centerline measured in millimeters. What side of the wheel centerline the mounting surface is on, determines if has a positive or negative offset. Other things that factor into how far the wheels/tires "stick out" are wheel and tire width.

A 9" wide wheel with a +20 offset will stick out farther than a 8.5" wide wheel with the same offset.

Keep in mind how offset works. a 0mm offset would stick out more than a +18. +25 offset sounds ideal for what you are looking for.

I hear ya. I'm just looking for that perfect mix (pipe dream I'm sure) between not slinging too much mud on the side and no tire rubbing. I'd prefer the mud over rubbing for sure. Even if I have to cut a little to make it work. I appreciate all of your input guys.

If your truck has the single trailing arms up front vs. the 4-link, you should NOT rub ANYWHERE (with something like a +18 offset).

But generally, the 4-link systems have upper control arms that rub. And I think the lower two sometimes get rubbed on also.

Finally got to it. Have 3.5" up front and 1" in the rear. Running 20x9.5 w/-12 offset and 35's. No rub at all and just enough hanging out to look aggressive but not foul the side all up every time it gets a little muddy..... Thanks for all the info!
