i have a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport with the 5.7L hemi and 8 speed trans. It currently has 170k miles but the noise started about 20k miles ago.
To me it sounds like a metal on metal ting near where the trans meets the engine. Every opinion I got believed it was a broken flex plate and after research here and elsewhere I agreed. I had my mechanic take on this job and when he got everything separated he found nothing wrong. Since we already bought the part I had him replace it and go over everything, re-torqueing everything. Started the truck and the noise is still there. We checked the cats and found no issues.
What are we missing. I have had an intermittent cylinder 5 misfire code that I’m told could be an indicator? In the last 50k miles I have done the spark plugs, both exhaust manifolds, and any maintenance its needed.
Anyone else have any experience with this?
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
