Anyone here apply your own roll on bed liner ? ( Herculiner ) etc etc...

Thinking about doing this myself and saving 450$, vs getting someone to do it for me. Anyone have a negative experience with these linings ?

Armaguard is strong and UV resistant so it won't fade in the sun.

Used herculiner on the bed of a 74 chevy, lasted about 5 yrs with moderate use, I could see the paint under the liner in numerous places before I reapplied more liner. Does it work yes, not sure I would use it on a 40k truck.

I used the duplicolor bed armor on a couple of other trucks and it was great. It's made with Kevlar. Ill will be doing the new one soon.

It depends on how picky you are. I've never seen a "DIY" bedliner that didn't look "DIY".

I suppose if you have a compressor and an spray it, it might come out better, but the roll on ones look... roll on. *shrug*

Wasn't about to have that in my brand new truck. I spent $4-500 (don't recall) and I've never looked back. Very happy with my investment.

Like white said, IF you can spay it on, do it cause it looks much better. The big thing with the roll on is to make sure you spend the time on the prep work. It makes a huge difference on all the ones if seen.

You're not saving a dime, you're buying less product. The DIY stuff, such as Herculiner, is about 50% solvents (by volume) which evaporate away. So, for every gallon you buy, you really only get 1/2 gallon of actual bedliner solids. Most professional brands apply about 8 gallons (solvent free) in a full-size short bed truck. So, if you want to apply the same with a DIY, you will need to buy at least 16 gallons. So, if one gallon of DIY stuff costs $100, it will cost you $1,600.

If you're decided to use roll on bedliner, remember that prep is the key to get the best and long lasting result.

If you're decided to use roll on bedliner, remember that prep is the key to get the best and long lasting result.

Substrate preparation is important in regards to adhesion. However, surface preparation has nothing to do with the bedliner product's tear strength, tensile strength, taber abrasion, and elongation which all have to do with durability.

You can certainly prepare the substrate as well as professionals, but you can't buy ANY aftermarket bedliner product that's as durable as (most) professional products.
