Yes those are just bars. I mentioned already that I want a basket. Lots of the bolt in baskets are called racks too so I can see how the wording is making this confusing. I don't want just cross bars I want a basket/rack.

I never looked in to the baskets, but was under the impression they could be secured to the racks. If brand of basket is the same as the rack, then I would definitely think they would have the clamps to secure them. Otherwise, I would imagine there are many other options out there to get the basket secured to the racks.

looks like you can pretty much get the clamp on bars of your choice, and then add whichever basket you want.

Yes^^^, Thule and Rhino have the baskets as well. Now you just need the width on the basket to make it work! Might have to go with a different brand basket, below is one from Rola that is 40 1/2". Looking forward to seeing finished product.

Another problem is finding one wide enough too. I dont like look of the more narrow ones. I want one that is wide and wont make the truck look like it has a mohawk lol. I am going to keep searching. i got another couple months before i will actually do it but i like to plan way in advance.

Thanks for the help and interest. We offer alot of these so I have a ton of options its just a matter of piecing it all together to make it fit what i want to do.

Did u check with derekp to fab one up like he built for his cummins swap? Dont know if he bolted it the roof or not. But I'm guessing thats kinda what you're after?

exactly what I am after and I did but I am still waiting on pricing. His bolts into the door jambs which i am fine with. I just dont want to drill the roof. Rather not use the cross bars but its looking like that may be the only option that will work out in the end

I am serious when I write this, Nick. Have you checked Aussie websites? These guys have hardcore outback setups for rails, caps,winches, etc etc for our trucks

I realize you dont want to drill.. but the best solution when i looked into this is using tracks... the track system is drilled and attached to the roof using nutserts... when done right it looks factory and then you can add crossbars and anything else...

You can seal the nutsert holes with paint and silicone for rust and waterproofing...

Not happening. I got no balls for drilling my roof lol. Seriously not interested in doing it at this point. Trust me I thought about it alot, watched many videos of installs, read instructions. I know it's a better method but I'm still not drilling my roof.

Only the first hole is hard... After one theres no turning back...

I hear you though... still debating a snorkel and cutting a hole in my fender...

That said, a shop will probably do it for 200$

Just a random thought, but what about making one that attaches to the bed (like a headache rack, or whatever they are called), then has the basket over the roof and you could attach the front with a set up on the A-pillars like the light bars attach to? Of course, it would have to be custom designed and fabricated, but doable.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, that may not work as the bed and cab flex separately from each other.

you hit the nail on the head with the flex. plus that would most likely make me have to get rid of the bed cover or change it and then most wont work with ram boxes. good brain storming tho

I dont trust a shop to do it. If anyone is doing it, it will be me, and i am not doing it lol. I have chopped up trucks to point of no return doing lift kits and other mods. I am not chancing a leak or increased risk of rust on the roof of my daily.

Funny i am just the opposite... i wouldnt think twice drilling my roof... already has a big hole top and back... sunroof and 3rd brakelight that even from factory may leak...

What about just combining something like clamp on Yakima roof cross bars and a Yakima MegaWarrior roof rack? That should be large enough to hold the spare, and even comes available with spare tire mounting kits.

My racks have 3 1/4"' clearance from the roof. If your antenna is located near the front or rear of the roof, the racks would not cross over them anyway.
