So I got some changes coming to the Power Wagon and with that I want to add a roof rack with a basket so I can add lighting and relocate my spare to the roof to make room under the truck for other mods. Lets see what you guys are running and let me know what you think about it. Also let me know what you used to mount it to the roof, if it was with drill mounts or on cross bars. Really want to mount mine on roof rack cross bars as I dont want to drill my roof but I am not set on anything yet.

So please post pics and leave me some info in here.

Thanks!

I would look at tailgate then personally. They got ones you can lock all up.

I have thought about it and I do like it but i use my tailgate ALOT and rather not have another obstacle everyday to deal with as petty as that sounds. Also I want to mount lights front and back on the rack. It will allow me to run light bars and chase lights easily.

They have ones that swing and are really easy to navigate, just say'n. I had 3 on Bronco's, really liked the set up. The swing ones with ram are a bumper/swing one piece, or tailgate swing one piece. GL with the roof thing, Burla

I have the Rhino Rack Vortex 2500's and an happy with them. Really, any rack should do. Your choices are likely Rhino Racks, Yakima, Thule and maybe Inno, all which will not require bolting. Of them all, the Rhinos are priced the best and all racks basically offer the samy accessory options. Quality for each brand is really no different IMO....

As for additional accessories needed to mount a spare, I'm not sure. Maybe a basket on the racks would do the trick and some baskets come with a nice looking light setup!

I always thought about throwing a spare up there, figured it would add to the rugged look and look better than latching to the tailgate. But, racks are really needed for my boards and the tow truck is a call away. Ive done enough to kill my gas mileage as it is. I want to see pics when you get it hooked up, I think it is going to look pretty bad ass on your ride!

I've posted this rack inquiry before, don't be surprised if I'm your only response that is close to what you are looking for. Most folks who throw racks on are going to get the bed racks. Lol

Doesn't look like a wrangler in that pic. Anyone come up with anything yet?

Im guessing you have decided against putting the spare up on the roof.

Nope it's still going up there. Don't want to do a bed mount and lose space and/or bed cover and don't want a rear mount as it will lose my back up camera and rear sensors.

Still want a roof rack for the spare and lights.

Any of those brands I mentioned should support the weight. Just not sure about a basket being large enough for the tire. The Rhino Racks do have eyelet bolts you can attach to possibly strap them down, but I would preferably have a basket if I were putting a tire up there. I have seen some nice baskets with lights on the front that could be mounted to the racks. Something like in the link below and there are many more out there. Just not sure if your tire will fit in there.

Guess you could always design your own to attach to the rails shown above. I designed a bed rack that incorporated a roof rack for a member on here, but then never saw that he had it made.

The biggest thing for me is I don't want to drill the roof. So I wanted to see what others were doing if anything. There are some custom options out there too but their very slow responses if any have been scaring me away

All those brands I mentioned do not require drilling, they clamp on!
