I have a vibration at highway speed. I have ruled out the wheels and tires as being the issue. I have seen a few posts on the net about rotating the driveshaft 180 degrees, and possibly that might help. My question is this only for two piece driveshafts, or does this go for one piece driveshafts as well? Thanks in advance.

Needs balanced and new ujoints. Even if you don’t think you need them

Why would you come to that conclusion? There are other things that could cause my issue. I am trying the simple things, before I start dumping unnecessary money into the truck.

Experienced same issue is why. Shafts notoriously aren’t balanced correctly and ujoints can cause vibration. Actually is cheap fix. I just paid $150 for shaft balance and ujoints. The rest is where it can be expensive. Balance tires too

Thanks for your advice. Tires have been Roadforce balanced. I looked into changing the u-joints and having the driveshaft balanced. Going rate for that service up here is close to $300. I had heard the sometimes rotating the driveshaft can help.

Since where I am at I just did the balance however I e read on here a few different ways. But ultimately you won’t know unless it’s balanced. If you have 2 drive shafts the center support can get loose too

I’ve heard that as well. Mine is just a one piece.

Rotating driveshaft 180 only necessary if drive shaft was pulled for some reason & not put back in same position & now you have a vibration vrs none before shaft was pulled.

I’m not sure if it was ever pulled before I bought it. It had 30,000 miles on it. I know the ujoints have snap rings. I am not sure if they came with snap rings from the factory, or if they had the plastic locks.

Are all the driveshafts phased correctly? All the u-joints should be aligned in the same position.

Out of curiousity would this be a regular cab shortbox truck with the 8 speed?
