My 2024, 1500 ram Longhorn drives very jerky when making tight turns such as getting in or out of a parking space or rounding a street corner when in 4wd high both on dry pavement or snow. I sometimes have to give it a lot of gas just to get it moving. My 2012 ram wasn't this way at all.

Does anyone else with a late model 1500 ram have the same problem and should I make an appointment with the dealership?

Others will explain more but... first off do not use 4wd on dry pavement you will blow the tcase making turns like that its why it binds. When you say snow how much snow? If its not enough it will bind on turns still basically what I do is once I am un stuck i throw it back into 2wd unelss its enough snow that the roads are totally covered.

If your 2012 had the Auto 4X4 option, that truck had the BW44-44 transfer case. It basically used a clutch to drive the front wheels. The power sent to the front wheels wouldn't be applied unless slippage was detected, also the power would be limited when the front wheels were turned. It more an All-Wheel drive system. Lots of complaints about the transfer case for people who actually needed 4WD in a truck, the Gen5 trucks use transfer case that transmit power better. As mentioned 4X4 shouldn't be used on dry driving surfaces.

OP: u either have a BW 48-12 or 48-11 (has auto 4Wd) transfer case. New for 5th Gen. Ram did beef them up a bit and changed the shift points/clutches on them from the older 4th Gen. as said above : NO 4 WD on dry pavement. They will bind up on turns and even in light snow they will. If U have 48-11 use Auto setting if U think u need it.

My 2019 will bind up in 4WD if on dry or just dusted roads. FTR I have 48-11 with Auto option. I bout only use 4WD IF in wet field or mud, usually pulling loaded trailer otherwise in the monsoon like rains we get use Auto or U risk burning up clutches.

All above IMHO only.

Yes, I noticed this when I first started driving my 2022 ECODiesel, coming from a 2013 RAM. It smoothed out quite a bit with the GDE tune, but resistance when the wheel is turned remains, whether a 4-wheel drive mode is selected or not.

It almost seems as if the truck is trying to limit the bilateral forces on the front tires when at extreme angles.

I think it 's common with the non auto TC's .
I notice it on snow when the steering is cranked and going slow.
Even my '24 F250 does this.

Different vehicles react more or less to driveline windup. Regardless of the intensity of the windup effects, driving on dry pavement or intermitently dry pavement while in 4WD is not a good idea with a part-time 4WD vehicle.

IT IS VERY BAD! Unless you have an unlimited repair budget, and enjoy pushing hardware beyond the designed limits.

The Auto transfer case setting is suitable for mixed traction conditions, but not 4H.
If you don't have an Auto position, there are 2 alternatives;

Switch between 2H & 4H as required, or slow down and remain in 2H.
Part-time 4WD is not designed for mixed traction conditions.

The following video has one of the better explanations for driveline windup.

This next short video demonstrates the windup effect.

Does your 24 have 4Auto in addition to 4 Hi and Low?? As others have already stated, you shouldn't use 4 Hi or Low on dry pavement. By doing so you could find yourself at the dealer for repairs.

4Auto works fine for street driving, but I only use it in certain wet weather or slight snow conditions.

4auto on my 23 1500 will also bind when making hard turns at anything above 25mph.
It surprised me the first time it happened as I thought 4auto was more like AWD, with 4high and 4low using the actual TC.

Yes. Never use 4wd on dry pavement. Not even a little bit.
