... funny thing. I remember posting in the oil filter thread that I had used the Purolator Boss PBL 24651 on my previous HEMI engines and that members stated they "won't use them because they are glorified rock catchers" ... low and behold, they are all of the sudden the "go to filter".

I've opened up an new Purolator Boss PBL 24651 along with a new Royal Purple 20-820 oil filters and posted for a visual comparison, not so long ago, over on the oil filter thread and gave my humble opinion of the similarity in comparison of quality and same materials ... good grief, lol.
Fwiw, the FRAM FE 7317 SYNTHETIC Endurance for my rubber band powered 2025 Nissan truck isn't available anymore at Wal mart where I reside, so I'll be taking a looking at the Purolator Boss equalivant for replacement.

Yep, IIRC I tried a PBL-24651 based largely on your posts. I saw no problems with it but I'm hardly a test lab. Then I saw the graphs and a YouTube video (or two) and never ran one again, but I have a box full of 20-820 in my garage, enough for the next 5-6 years at least, being retired.

It seems that the Puro Boss is 1st choice today only because all the better ones have disappeared? If so it's a pretty lame way to be #1, but we use what we can find. And that graph is dated Mar 30-31, 2021, so it's 5 years old anyway.

The favorite 20-820 filter is gone for good....what is one to do? Oil filters have changed so much and I'm not sure if I trust Wix or Fram. Let's update this debate to 2026. I wish I had bought a case of 20-820's last year:rolleyes:
Go to the Royal Purple 10-48. Exact same description at royal purple as the 20-820.

Same description but not the same size. The 20-820 will fit perfectly but is noticeable larger. Otherwise probably the same, as is likely the case with all their filters.

Of course you fail to mention da burl that found that great video that brought back puro from the Pitts of hell. And for the record in the paper we had on puro boss it was better then wix xp but not as good as the top 3 at the time. Now we have new info... Now anything from champ labs I's dead and gone, no more RP, no more Amsoil EA, no more fe, toast they tried to save it but the company sale fell through now the factory is gone. But for some obscure stuff, more info on carquest needed, that technology is no more, who has 100% spun glass now? So with the current field, there isn't much debate. But I'm glad for this video, it was the first proof that I know where puro boss holds up better to top filters then we knew before.

Carquest EP 85372 made by PGI 99%@25 microns
Site said 99.5% @25 microns. If you follow that on the graph of the Ultra, the EP would also be around 99% at 20.

That is the one I will be going to for my 19 classic.

For Purolator filters on their site they have Walmarts listed when you put an address in of where to buy. Curious if any Wallyworlds have any on the shelf?

So as of now, what is the short list of 'go-to' filters for what is available?

Looks like other models are feeling it too. This is sad.

Burla , does the PURO BOSS PBL24651 fit on a 2021 Ram 1500 5.7? Amazon says no.

It's on page one for more info, the larger filter will fit for those who want it.
