I picked up a 2006 Dodge Mega cab with a 5.7 Hemi. Took it to the garage for a safety inspection and for the garage to diagnose what problems I had and what repairs I needed to make.
The mechanics said the engine was strong for having 209k. I replaced crank shaft positioning sensor, 2 coil pack and all 16 plugs. And changed the oil.
After the engine warms up, I revved the engine and at 3500 RPM’s the engine cuts out.
Does anyone know why this happens and what I need to do?
Thanks.

That's Normal. MOPAR has been limiting RPM while the vehicle is in Park for years.

How does it rev when in drive out on the road?

I haven’t noticed anything odd when I drove it from the auction. I had some concerns about the revs not going higher for a Hemi. I had a rogue that did the same thing and was surprised the Hemi engine did t want to go higher in RPM’s.
I’m relieved to know that there’s not an issue with the engine.

I haven’t had it out since. Complete brake job with dust covers needs replaced. Including parking brake in rear. And upper lower ball joints and U joints and entire steering replacement upgrade so no wobble.
And I’ll have to take it somewhere for cab corner and rockers to repair.
Other than that, she’s a real beast.
