Just knowing my truck is faster with lighter wheels,
I would NEVER put on a 44lb 22" "fake" wheel just for "looks"

Staying within the same tire line, a 22" will always add more weight
a Nitto 420s (very popular choice performance street tire)
Puts on 5 pounds (to the OUTside edge) going from 305/50R20 to 305/45R22

Hard to believe,
but my daily driver setup for all season performance with a Heavy lugged AT tread (305/50R20 General Grabber)
on a new set of stock 14' Sport Wheels at just 88lbs per corner, would weigh 6 pounds less (each) than an R/T replica
with 420s 305/45R22 street tires with almost no tread depth

(My wheel/tire combo would be 13lbs less per corner with 420s in 305/50R20 size)

I didn't really look at your pictures...0 - 60 in 4.2 seconds is super impressive...but the majority of us are not looking for that kind of performance in a pickup...that would be sweet in a Challenger or Charger.

That time was run on the street BTW,
on my heavy ass 305/50R20 Terra Grapplers in 4WD (no tire spin)
It will on occasion chirp second in 4WD :naughty:

The Track was a good place to fine tune my truck for performance,
but now its just a street sleeper waiting to take down the next sports car.

I don't know why it's hard to believe that a 20" cast wheel won't have that much difference in weight than a 22" forged wheel.

and a 305/50/20 is only going to be a few pounds less than a 305/45/22...
My 22" forged wheels with 305/45/22 420s weight 80lbs total. Same weight has my 20" chrome clads.

Not all of us like going as fast as we and blowing up multiple trannys like you.....lol

That's not what I was saying at all,
I was referring to my Heavy AT tire on a stock Sport 20" wheel
being 6 pounds "lighter" than a 44lb Replica fake 22" R/T wheel with a common street tire.

I said nothing about a Forged wheel anywhere in my post.

Forged R/T 22 at 34 pounds is awesome!
However a copy cat knock off at 44 pounds, not so much.
I'd rather have a 33lb 20" Sport wheel than a fake boat anchor.

the weight difference is significant, even if you don't race it, it effects passing performance, towing performance and fuel economy.

I could tell a huge difference in power and driving going from my KMC 22" with 305/45/22 tire back to the stocker 20's and 275/60/20...

Yeah, I thought you were comparing to the oem RT wheels.
They don't make fake RT wheels. You mean SRT wheels right? That's what I miss read I guess.

Yes, I understand un-sprung weight and Rotational Inerti. That's why I run forged 22s. I'm not trying to make this truck into a race truck, but adding heavy ass rims is not something I want to do either.

You are Totally miss reading this entire thread obviously,
That's the Key point the thread is based on...

Replica R/T 22's ARE out now, have been over a month actually
available in chrome, silver, black , machined etc.....just like the SRT reps. with Several Ebay Vendors flogging them....

I met a guy at the track that had 24" KMC slides on a stock R/T,
He couldn't figure out why he couldn't break into the 14's ...
perhaps because 24" KMC's are over 53 pounds each (without tires) :Sumo:

Someone posting in this thread has a lot to learn about unsprung weight and rotational mass...

Still glad i have real rts.
And i too want a 0-60 in the 4s.

No point having a kick ass looking hemi if it runs like every other regular hemi.

And yeah... having forged wheels on my street bike is night and day versus cast. Theug can really tell on a bike.

Most of us are just trying to make our RAMs look way better than stock and get maximum street performance...not trying to improve our pickup's 1/4 mile times or the speed going through the traps...
That's a very contradictory statement. If you want maximum street performance, don't add heavy-ass wheels. You only do that if you want cheap looks. Cheap wheels are the equivalent of Homer's makeup gun, on the best day. Good quality wheels cost money, which is why I've never changed the wheels on a vehicle I've owned :(

You can get a 22x10 wheel down to 26-27lbs...the price scares most everyone away though. lol

Who is Homer?
Is Homer a Canadian?
And does Homer have a "makeup gun" because Canadians to not have the right to keep and bear real arms?

Anyone who thinks unsprung weight makes no sizeable difference, whether racing, or just trying to keep the truck responsive and keep the MPGs up, needs to go back to school. I took my heavy ass Boss wheels and heavy 305 50 20 Kumho tires off (loss of 72lbs unsprung weight) and the truck saw a difference of .6 from 0-60 while picking up close to 3 MPGs at highway speeds (roughly 1-2mpgs avg with mixed driving). It is simple physics...as simple as physics is any way, lol.
