Has anyone on the forum taken a power wagon through the rubicon trail? Watching some videos and it seems like it has some tight spots for jeeps. Just curious if anyone here has done it and what the experience was like.

I would never consider doing that in my PW. I would rather go to Moab if given the choice of places to go wheel.

That's the one thing that killed me with this truck is how big it is. I know it's common sense when buying it about going on certain trails. When I had it down in NC not that long ago it killed me watching only yotas and jeeps being able to fit on the one trail I wanted to go. I literally stood outside my truck with my wife and said I can make it but what parts do I want to sacrifice to the gods along the way with those trees over there to ha ha. Then what does the wife say dont b**ch if you brake it.

Lol she did. This year I am going to tackle it in the spring. I wish I could tell myself to be 25 again with a paid off wrangler and go wild like I used to on some trails. These trucks now are like mortgage payments. But then again I bought it to use it right?

I struggle with the same issue. Did it with my ‘12 jkur that i traded in for the power wagon. I just have a hard time beating up a nice vehicle... but it is what they were designed for!

Put on a good set of rock sliders that also will let you pivot around rocks and trees with out body damage

Yea that helps for sure... but it some scenarios they just aren't gonna completely stop body damage.

You have been wanting the 19/20 anyways. Might as well enjoy a few trails now cause it will be even harder for you to take a new truck down a trail. #nolookingback

Oh I enjoy wheelin’ around with it. Just not to the magnitude that some do LOL. It would be no harder for me to beat up a 2020 than it would my ‘16.

Well, that video does show it can be done. I think in some spots if he had maple or WK rock sliders the truck may not have fit. Thanks for the find. Some big tires on that bad boy.

Hopefully, the tree that was rubbed against and shaken late in the video hasn't grown much larger in 4.5 years. In the beginning of the video the closest large tree is lacking bark on its trail side.

At the more popular 4x4 areas of Colorado either 4 wheel drive clubs or the US Government have installed signs at the entrances to the trails such as on Handcart Gulch (Webster Pass) and at Schofield Pass warning drivers that the trail should be used for short wheel base and narrow vehicles. Been to both of these areas and I know how narrow our shelf roads can get for a full sized pickup. I didn't see such warning signs for the Rubicon Trail online. At Schofield Pass above Crested Butte this article displays those signs...

Well... Be a little careful.
This pic shows around 20 000$ can of damage before taxes.
