I've been noticing lately that when I start up my truck in the morning going to school, it idles a little rough. I let it sit a minute this morning and it seemed to get a little better as it warmed up. Is that all it is or is there something I need to check out? Just a thought, but could it be the catalytic converter clogged up and causing it?

Does your exhaust smell like rotten eggs?

No not that I can tell haha Another thing I noticed is even going down the road, it just sounds rough... not a real smooth sound, if you know what I mean lol

How long has it been since the truck got a good tune up?

I haven't really yet... but the spark plugs seem fine, it starts right up everytime no problem and the wires look pretty new. Just changed the oil and transmission fluid not to long ago but I probably need to do the transmission fluid again. It was about 3500 miles ago, is that enough or should I let it go a little longer?

I'm really thinking it might be the catalytic converter now after some stuff I read. If I removed it, it would help improve mileage and give me some more horsepower :naughty:

If you've only got 3500 on the trans fluid, you won't need to change it again for a while.
Plugs should be changed around 50 to 75k miles depending on driving habits and mods on the truck.
An in-depth tune up is more than just plugs, wires and an oil change. I'd also check/change the distributor cap and rotor, pcv valve, crankcase breather and both hoses

Plugs might need a change, not sure when they were changed last. Are those new E3's a good plug or should I just go with the normal plugs?

E3's are a waste of money, IMO. I'm running a set of NGK's in mine now. Haven't had any problems with them yet and they're all burning the same.
If you don't have a preference to a particular brand of plug, you can't go wrong with the OEM Champions

I'm going to do that, also I'll probably be pulling the cat off. I just looked at it and there is an O2 sensor in front of it and behind it. If I just cut it out and straight piped it, would that work?

Technically? Yeah, it'll work. But your truck wouldn't be legal to drive on the street and you'd almost certainly have a constant CEL
I wouldn't go cutting your cat off just yet. Try changing the plugs and other stuff I mentioned earlier. Especially the pcv valve. Mine ran a LOT smoother after swapping mine out. Plus, it only takes 30 seconds to do it

Oklahoma doesn't have any inspections like you all. They did away with that a long time ago. Plus I wouldn't mind the check engine light being on as long as I'm getting better mileage and performance.

Tx doesn't have any emission tests during the inspection either. Hell, I took my old truck and it passed inspection with no exhaust whatsoever aside from the headers :D it's all about who you know or who you can bribe lol

Might wanna use a non fouler or something on the front O2...that one is kind of important...I know it's apples to oranges, but my S10 even with an OBD1 system, wouldt get out of it's own way with a faulty O2.
