After being at work for a few hours this morning we had a 2013 2500 CTD 4x4 with 328 miles come in with a check engine light.

Have they put a new motor in the 13s or is it still the 6.7? I won't know why the light is on until one of the techs get to it, but I was extremely disappointed to see this..

Anyways thought I would share, and possibly give whatever info out to any CTD guys who might stumble upon this thread as well as anybody else

Extremely disappointed? Really? The ONLY thing you know at this point is that the check engine light works, so your disappointment is a little silly and definitely premature.

There are hundreds of causes for the check engine light to come on. I wouldn't get excited till you know the actual cause.

Maybe they forgot to add oil to it, and you've destroyed your motor!
Kinda doubt that. Likely some petty emissions related stupidity.

Really? It has a check engine light on and you have no clue why but post as if the engine is blown. It could be a faulty fuel cap for all you know!

Some people just dont get it, ive had toyotas with less than 100 miles end up in my bay with brake noises, engine noises and flat spots on tires. Most vehicles once they come off the truck will sit for weeks to months at a time. New cars have problems just like old cars, **** happens. Thats what warranties are for. Internet mechanics dont know the first step of a pdi, check the fluids amd warning lights! All the original poster was trying to do is give the CTD guys a headsup of a possible issue, instead everybody gives the poor guy a ration of **** for trying to make a potentional issue known with the new trucks. Some people should appreciate the information that can be obtained from someone that works at a dodge dealer....

I think what I said may have been a little misunderstood, and if it was I apologize.

In no way was I trying to bash the new truck or the motor.. All I was trying to do is post about the possible issue, and once I knew more about it and why the check engine light was on, I'd pass on the info to whoever decides to read this thread.

Since I do work at a Dodge dealership, I feel I can be helpful when it comes to things like this. No I won't post something every time I see a CEL on a truck, but I thought this would be worth mentioning due to the low mileage.

My CEL came on also, I think around 500mi. I was out of town and referred to the owners manual witch basically says ignore it and see if it goes away, and it did. LOL

Okay, so I'm curious and think the OP is potetnially sharing valuable indications and warnings of potential issues.

Even though I do not have a CTD I would like to know what was the fault that caused the CEL for #3 and what did it take to repair it?
