Sales codes...definitive answer needed

So, when everyone talks about adding a oem remote starter, or oem mirrors with puddle lamps/turn signals, they always say that you need to "flash a sales code". My question is....is the sales code already in the truck just waiting to be activated or do you actually need to install the codes?
No guesses please....

You actually have to add the sales code to the truck.

They are one in the same.. kinda.. its a very fine line. In order to add or activate a sales code you need to "add" the code (like stated above), and flash it then reset it for it to work. The only way to do this is to use WiTech. However sales codes for DRL's (for example) for a 300C will not work in a Ram - most are universal, but depending on what you are trying to add it may not be "accepted" by the computer.

With that being said its kind of like the computer knows what sales codes it can accept, so in a way the code is already there it just needs to be "added" or "activated" - like I said, one in the same.

When I had my 14 flashed for the trailer brakes I had a list of codes I had wanted to add while I was there.
I wanted to add the autodim mirror to my truck (I have it in it and the 911/assist buttons light up and work, but no dimming
Sadly there was no space to add sales codes, only a menu that had what you could add to the truck. There was not a lot that were not grayed out on my Express
