Security light blinking and truck turns off while driving

About two months ago I tried to start my truck with a low battery, after a lot of clicking and chugging, it started. It started up and now my security light is now blinking constantly. I dont have an alarm or a key with a chip in it. I thought getting a new battery would fix it, but the light is still blinking. (I figure I shorted something out due to a voltage spike). When driving down the road my truck will randomly turn itself off as if I turned the key off. The engine doesnt skip a beat or chug, it just all of a sudden turns off. I can pull over and start it again with no problem.

It has happened 4 times in the last two months. I took it to the dealership and they said they couldnt find any codes and they couldnt reproduce the problem. I know how complicated electrical problems can be. Any suggestions where to start? It acts as if the truck thinks I should have a security chip in my key and shuts off.

Sounds like the security system is thinking the truck is stolen and shutting it off? Can they even do that? Not sure man, but that's my guess.

You sure its the secutity light? Is it a red blinking LED? If so, thats a battery light and will flash if your battery is dead or is on its last leg. The sudden engine kills are more than likely because you dont have sufficient power to keep it running so it drops off. Replace the battery and have them do a load test on the alternator and make sure that is working. Get those two out of the way first and see what happens, if that does not fix it we can move on to other options.

Go around the engine bay and clean any and all grounds you can see. I had a bad grounding problem with a previous vehicle and just cleaning the ground points on the body and the engine and at the terminals with a wire brush solved the problem I was having. And make sure those battery terminals are good and roughed up for good contact.

First of all, thanks for all the replys.
It is the little red blinking LED. I have replaced the battery and had the alternator checked. Alternator checked out ok. I will check the grounds as suggested. The dealership suggested replacing the computer out of desperation of not knowing what to do, but I would like to start with somthing cheaper like sensors. The dealership kept asking if I had a different key. They seem to think the truck is looking for a security chip in the key (which I dont have). Do you know which modual or computer controls this?

I've had that led blinking on me more than once as well as the truck die on me, both times was because the battery was bad. Is the battery new? Are the batter cables new? Are the connectors on the cables good?

The battery is brand new. Everything else is original. I checked under the hood and the battery has a good solid conntact to the cables and everything looks clean.

If it is the LED on the lower right side of your dash, that is the Sentry security system that is standard on all 2006+ Chrysler vehicles. What has happened is your truck has lost the programming to recognize your chipped key (Or if you are using an un-chipped key, it cannot see a chip, hence your problem). If you have 2 programmed keys, you can add a 3rd+ key, however if you only have 1, its a trip back to the dealer to have it reprogrammed or trouble shot.

Just a suggestion, get them to do 2 keys, then buy a 3rd one online, and get it programmed, stored in a safe spot. Then, when you lose 1 key, you can still add one yourself in the future.

I have a 3.7 mine did the same thing with the security light flashing and no chip in my key. I called my mechanics teacher who at the time was working at the dodge dealership. he checked it out and told me my transmission needed a update. He put it on the shops computer and did the update to the transmission and it worked.
