Hi, New here !

My "current" issue is the Shark Fin Antennae.

I cannot even park in my own garage because of the height. I have to go out of town on business this week, and guess what, there are no parking garages in the area with sufficient height, I will have to park in an open street lot......not happy.

Hubby just bought a 2019 Ram and has the nice FLAT antennae, HE has the same 20" tires and does fit in the garage.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be changed on my 2016 ?

While I love my 2016 Laramie, I do not like the fact I cannot have an installed CD player. I am a dinosaur, I have a flip phone, no MP3, I pad, etc. Does anyone know if there is a way to get a unit installed at this time, assuming that the main computer will also have to be changed ? I've lived with it this long, but still not happy about it, for me it is NOT an obsolete technology.

Thanks !

:welcome: Switching to 17" wheels and tires might help with the height problem. Have it checked for a leveling kit on the front as that will lift the front of the truck. if so removing the leveling kit will slightly lower the front end. You can replace the entertainment system with an aftermarket unit. I have a Kenwood Nav. unit in my 2007 truck. Wish you well with your truck.

A single CD player was an option in 2016. Depending on if you have a center console or jump seat, you'll have to get the CD and associated trim to mount it along with the wiring harness. You can probably source the parts from a salvage yard. Then I'm guessing you'll probably have to turn the CD feature on with AlfaOBD.
It would be a lot easier to rip your entire CD library to MP3 format then just keep them all on a flash drive for in the truck.

I do believe there is a flat style antenna that can replace the shark fin but I think you lose either cell or Sirius radio.

Canadian spec trucks had the flat antenna in your timeframe. They had GPS and satellite radio but no phone. You could probably change yours to that one. Adding an OEM radio with cd should work or you could just go to Best Buy or other store and buy an aftermarket inexpensive radio/cd player that should do what you want.

I'm surprised the 2019 is a flat antenna as my 19 Laramie has a pretty high shark fin on it.

I measured the height of my canadian spec 14 sport before I bought my 19 Laramie and the 14 was 3/4" lower than my 19 not including the antenna on the roof and the 14 had 20" wheels on it just like my 19.

Good luck in your quest.

Thanks for all the tips and info ! I'm keeping the 20" tires, love them ! I'm able to park under an enclosed carport, so I can live with that. I guess I'll have to let the CD player slide, should I ever get another RAM, I will special order it. I couldn't believe that the sales man said it was obsolete technology.....well look, vinyl records are back ! I think because hubby bought a Classic 2019 that could have made a difference on the antennae, not sure. Will have to look at the new other RAM models and see what they have. Thanks all again !
