Is this a 5.9 Cummins 5-speed (NV4500) or 6-speed (NV5600) truck? There are several things that need to be inspected first. Here is what I would do...

Set the parking break and chock the wheels. Have an assistant sit in the truck to operate the shifter and the pedals. Lay down under the truck and have your assistant start the engine and put it in first gear. Have your assistant release the clutch slowly so you can watch the driveshaft.

Do you hear any noises when your assistant releases the clutch?

Is the driveshaft turning? Does it attempt to move at all?

Look around the base of the bellhousing. Do you see a large amount of clutch dust?

How many miles are on the truck? How many miles have you owned it? Is this the original 2003 model year clutch and pressure plate?

We especially want to hear if you survive if the truck goes up and over the chocks with you under it.
