So update still waiting for the truck I ordered in Dec the dealership sent me a message saying they have over 21000 vehicles waiting to be shipped and have no clue on shipping any trucks. They want me to buy a similar truck off the lot for more money. They said there's nothing they can do on shipping I can't believe that. Any one has any thoughts or comments on this. My truck hasn't even moved or changed staying March 6th.

I was going to order a truck in January. 3month lead time but after reading a lot it was a 6month realistic lead time. I decided to buy what I could find and got a fair deal by shopping around Wait or buy now.

LOL
dealers will say & do anything to get a factory order in their inventory, then they could have bidding war over a 2022 Ram

I don't know where they got the 21,000 Rams number from.
Your dealership could not have that many orders outstanding in any year.

It is true, no one except the Railroads & Trucking Outfits control the Transit of vehicles.
Ram Headquarters can request the location of a vehicle in Transit, if it seems to be missing

This seems very unusual, RAM has a "new to us" vehicle order tracker. See what this tells you.

I tried that website and it tells me no update on anything. Then the 21000 vehicles I think are nation wide. Plus I watch there website on the new vehicles coming in and I see trucks coming in and going. I guess it's all a waiting game.

Well, do you have the option to go and retrieve the vehicle yourself, because outside of that, transport backlogs are hitting everything, not just vehicles. I know when I ordered mine it took way longer to get it up here from Mexico than it did to order and build but I have an existing truck so I was in no major rush.

I believe that i read some time in the past, that only licensed carriers can contact places like where freight trains unload vehicles.
I remember some time in the past that Union Truckers were parking their Semi trucks, hoping for better pay, medical benefits, etc.

The dealerships could contact Hot Shot Truckers & the Railroad, Then set up the paperwork, so the dealers were able to get the Vehicles for inventory & Sold orders

Not really sure what to say about the shipping delay, has it shown that it is complete and ready for shipping? Is there a chance that it's actually waiting for some additional components that require specialized electronics and it's not actually ready to be shipped? You might actually be in a better position right now, with everybody worried about the price of gas right now. There might be some slightly better deals on vehicles on dealer lots. Maybe do an inventory search on Ram's website and see if you can find a deal and start communicating with the dealership. Even if you have to drive a few hundred miles might make a nice weekend getaway to pick up your new vehicle and drive it back home. While it's been a bit since I bought my new RAM, I did all my negotiations via email and then phone and worked out a great deal. I never saw the truck until the day I went to pick it up two states away.

When they finish building the 4th Gen Ram in Warren Michigan, it is loaded on a semi truck with a car hauler.
It is then sent across town to a BODY VENDOR, ( Ground Effects Limited ) take a look, https://www.gfxltd.com/

From there it returns to the Warren Plant, where it gets the final sign off.
Then it goes into Transit, either a freight car or car hauling truck

On the other hand, if it is a 5th Gen Ram
when it rolls off the assembly line, it goes some where on the property to the next stage, ( body vendor )
from there it is staged for loading to be Shipped

Once it is Shipping Stage, the Shipper is in charge of Routing & Timing

Ram Headquarters has the expected date of delivery
Mother Nature can change any planned dates

First off it’s hard to believe that any dealership has 21,000 trucks on order. Secondly shipping has been a nightmare for all manufacturers. Our son works for CSX railroad and explained it to me. Trucks coming out of factories in the Ohio/Michigan area are put on Intermodal rail cars. If they are going to a dealership in the western half of the United States, they first go to Chicago where the nightmare begins. There those rail cars have to be moved from the eastern system to the western system, then wait for to get hooked up to a new train that will head west. Apparently there are rail cars full of vehicles that are sitting in Chicago for weeks waiting to get in the queue to head west.

At least 10 years ago, Chrysler began putting VINs, on parts, it is likely a QR code or maybe a Bar Code

At every station along the assembly line, there are cameras that are also code readers.

When a employee mentioned that, i thought, how hard would it be for IT guys to write software, so that a Factory Order could know where their order was with in minutes, if not seconds.

The CON maybe be that their server could Crashed with inquiries

I ordered mine feb 20, 2022. The sticker showed up in the portal sometime in April. It's been in a storage yard with no eta as of June 3, 2022. Sad because I am putting more miles on my trade-in everyday and it becomes less valuable. But the fact they can't even get an ETA is disturbing. Do you know what yard it's in?

Ordered 2/20/2022, It was finished in April and has been in a storage yard ever since with No eta or any information whatsoever. So frustrating. I don't mind a 1 to 2 week delay. But this is going on 4-6 weeks and possibly months. When they can't tell you when they even know when something may be shipped, there is a severe problem. They just need to communicate what it is.

I get your frustration but they can't communicate what they don't know. If they did and the dates constantly slipped they would be accused of lying. There are literary thousands of ships parked off the coast of China waiting to load, and that is only the tip of the supply chain problems and transportation backlogs. This is not going away any time soon.

Believe it or not, The United States West Coast only has 2 or 3 places where Cargo Ships unload all the products coming from China, Japan & Taiwan .
Long Beach & Los Angeles are the main ones. they are the Ports that have the MAJOR Back up, that is affecting the shortages, that we currently are experiencing

San Diego unloads Dole Products, bananas, etc.
Military equipment & a lot of the Towers for the Wind Farms.
There is a private company that has cargo ships going only to Guam, Midway, Hawaii

I am not sure if they have anything up in San Francisco or Portland Oregon or Seattle

Well, Why not let people go pick up their vehicles or send drivers to go get them at least for those owners who are close to Michigan to decrease the bottleneck? I would think dodge would want to get some money on the books. They should at least communicate there is a major shipping problem instead of silence. They will have to eventually stop taking orders if they can't deliver a final product.

after you check the 2 sites below, the only answer is RamChat, they may have an approximate ETA

USE Capital Letters

use your Vehicle Order Number for this one
