Hey guys, I have a 2006 Dodge ram 3500 quad cab short bed. I'm pretty sure it's got a rough country either five or 6-in lift on it and I'm trying to find new shocks for it. I saw shock surplus has Bilstein 5100s but I personally have never used them and really don't want to drop $500 on something that isn't going to work properly. I'm not sure whether I should get once for a 5-in lift or a 6 to eight. Any help is needed please and thank you

Measure extended and collapsed lengths of your current shocks and get ones that mimic that (as long as they are the correct length).

Are the shocks Rough Country brand, what brand are they? Look and see if you can find a part number on them somewhere. If they are aftermarket, there should be a part number somewhere on there. Then we can cross reference it for you and find you what you need.

Also to make a good recommendation, we would need to know how you use the truck. Is it a road driven truck only or do you off road? If you off road what types of terrain and speed? Also do you tow and if you do how much weight and how often?

They are aftermarket, but they have been painted over. I don't tow very often and I daily drive it. I occasionally offroad and its generally around 40 mph on dirt/mud. Im not sure if Its a 5 or 6 inch lift. Do you know of a way to find out?

My rear shocks are about 27" eye to eye if that helps. Been looking at bilstien 5100s but have heard mixed reviews about them. I dont haul much but I daily drive the truck and do mild off roading in dirt/mud around 40 mph max. I was not able to get a good measurement on the front shocks I can try to tomorrow if its really needed
