My heart goes out to you, sir. I lost my first wife when she was quite young. 2 Trucks... why not sell your truck AND your Camry and get a new truck with exactly the options you seek?

Hell yeah
4X4 all the way all day

I'm very sorry for your loss first and foremost. Like the other poster i lost my dad at a young age to lou gehrigs disease. That is one of the hardest things I've had to go though in life.
My heart and prayers go out to you.

As for the trucks. That's totally up to you. You do what makes you happy and don't worry about what others think.

I like the idea of maybe considering a more capable truck for the new one, the eco, hemi or maybe even a 2500hd? I love mine and the 6.4 is a great engine. The idea of a charger or challenger is a good one too.

But again, take care of yourself. Things will get better, but there are times something reminds me of my dad and i still get emotional. That's just how it is. Hang in there man.

Seems like a bad idea. If you don't even really need 1 truck, but prefer to drive one then by all means drive a truck. Tons of people do. Nice to have a spare vehicle for when one goes down or you have a mod in mind that means taking it apart for a day or 2 or 10. I say keep the Camry kicking around if it's a strong runner or replace it with another vehicle that's just for fun (Jeep, charger or challenger or even an older muscle car or really anything you'd like) you'll likely feel foolish after a while paying for insurance and maintaining 2 vehicles that serve the same purpose. Could be wrong though and maybe you'll happily end up as that guy who has a yard full of 4th Gen rams
I think the idea of having some touch on a second vehicle that honors your late wife is a nice idea. You'd know best if it is or isn't or what she'd like. My question is if you told her you were buying a second truck that's similar to the old one would you be in the doghouse?

So did I - my wife was 46, it was fourteen years ago.

In fact, it was her that really wanted for us to get a Ram. We looked at used ones, test drove a couple, but we never got there. We were driving a '97 Dakota at the time, took it everywhere - raft trips, camping trips, Mexico. The following spring, about 9 months after she passed, I traded it in for an '05 Dakota. Truck was ok, but it dropped a major hammer on my psyche. I actually went into therapy for a few months after getting rid of the truck she and I shared so many memories with. I got my 07 Ram two years later, and my 17 Ram last September.

So I agree with your suggestion, SOCAL (the OP should get something optioned well, and just keep the one truck) - but also, if the OP has a strong wife-truck association, all I can say is, watch out. I was still grieving hard when I got rid of my '97, worse than I was aware, and it was definitely a mistake for me to make that change, at that time. Everyone is different.

Best of luck to you, TheKid7. Very sorry you have this awful thing to deal with.

Having a spare vehicle is nice. I was up to 5 at one point (one was hers) and then I sold everything off and just keep mine and hers. Honestly it can be a pain in the ass if one of them needs work.

Sounds like a waste of money to me. If one truck was a Hemi and you were worried about gas mileage it might make sense. Typically a 2nd car only makes sense if one is a garage queen and you take the beater to work like you may be doing now with the Camry.

Trade in current and get a loaded Hemi.... this isn't a spare set of underwear... its a vehicle... and one that will last a very long time at that. Absolutely no point to two. By the time you consider in insurance and maintenance for a second trucker... you could probably get a Limited for cheaper.

Very sorry for you loss.

I have had a spare vehicle and felt like I needed one just in case, be it motorcycle or car or truck or one of each since I began driving 53 years ago. Thinking back, there may have been 4 or 5 years during my first 10 years of driving I only had one vehicle. At one point I had two street motorcycles, a boat, a pickup, a Corvette, and a 4 door sedan plus a travel trailer. And I was single with no kids. When I got married is when I had less. Go figure, Ha.

What ever makes you feel comfortable.

Go get something fun:

But get a coupe. The T-top cars look cool but flex way too much. Speaking from experience.

My wife hated RAM Trucks due to the cosmetic appearance. She told me that I could only purchase a Chevrolet Truck because it had the best appearance (Eye Candy).

I purchased the brand of Truck that she hated.
