Fell in love with a used 08 5.7 the other day. Flowmaster exhaust kit, leveled and has no record of any accident. I love this truck but the 133,674 miles on it scares the heck out of me. It's a beautiful truck that I'd love to have but is that too much mileage on an '08? Please give me insight!

If it was maintained by previous owner (s) it should be fine and have plenty of life left. Mileage really doesn't mean anything anymore. You could have a truck w/30k miles that has the crap beat out of it and end up being a dud. Mileage does not scare me.

Invest a couple hundred bucks and have a reputable shop check it out with that mileage. Maybe a lot of highway mileage, and not bad.

The whole front end and brakes should get checked. Engine compression and tranny. Does the guy have service records? He should have been doing a lot of maintenance driving 20K miles plus per year.

You could find a problem and still buy the truck, but at least you can negotiate over it.

Also ask the shop if they will credit the inspection fee against doing the work if you buy the truck. Even if you don't plan on using them it motivates them to find problems if they think they'll get the job and you will become a customer.
