I've got a 2012 Sport Crew that I'm leasing (1.5 years remaining) but I checked KBB out of curiosity and it reported the trade in value of my truck to be almost the price I leased it for, about $30k. With that it looks like I could potentially trade in for a brand new truck for only a few thousand and is very tempting. I was thinking about getting one of the EcoDiesels, but I don't know if I want to drop down to a Big Horn since the Sport styling is really right in my wheel house. The new sports also look really nice with the HID headlights, and I could get a performance hood that I didn't get with my '12.

What do you guys think, should I jump? :emotions33:

New Sport 2015?? Cause '14's don't have HID's. I haven't heard if '15 got that??
It all comes down the your desire for the Sport style vs the eco diesel. If you want the engine more, and don't wanna spent huge cash on a Laramie Limited to get close to the look, settle for the Big Horn. Just make sure your choice is final, you don't want to drive a new truck wishing "i shoulda"

KBB is inflated, don't expect to be able to straight trade out of a lease early.

They will find some way to burn you on it, believe that. If you have a few grand to put down to offset that, then go for it.

When my lease on my express is up, I'm thinking ecodiesel myself for the MPG value.

Hold out until the 2 year mark, or wait for end of the year clearance sales.

Whoops getting carried away calling them HIDs, meant the projector headlamps. The Larmie is way out of my budget, so that would be out. I think a Big Horn is going to leave me with a "i shoulda" no matter how much I like the EcoDiesel...I've had regrets not getting the performance hood on my current truck now. I'm after the diesel for mileage, and hoping they can make extra cheap power once mods come out like the HD diesels do.

This all comes down to being able to get a good deal out of them a second time, I'm not desperate enough to take an average deal. I'm hoping the angle of securing a new lease and used vehicle purchase/sale will make it worth while for the dealer and Ally - maybe not I've never gone down this road.

I'll have 2 years under me come November. I think I would wait until then so I can hit the end of year clearance like I did with my current truck. I also want to see what the 2015 refresh will bring to make sure I don't want to hold out for one. On that note, does anyone know if end of the year is typically Ram's biggest incentive time? I remember they were good when I got my truck.

end of the year sales are always good across the board for all brands typically becuase they want to get rid of the current model years on their lots, so that they can stock new model years. When I got my 12' Ram I got it during truck month ( May ) and got really good deals as well. Those would be the best times to snag a new truck deal. Every dealer though can have a " truck month sale " different times of the year based on region I believe, but not 100% sure on that statement.

Now another thing to take into consideration depending on where you live. If you live in what my dealer called " 4x4 land " that have moderate to significant snow fall during the winter. Some dealers will hold deals a little, but not as much because 4x4 trucks, and jeeps become a premium for there ability to get around in bad weather.

Get the diesel limited, BUT keep it a long time. Even though more expensive, you lose so much money on every transaction. You lose on the trade in and you give the dealer and Govt profit on new purchase.
Minimize your transactions and can be ahead long run. Own a Diesel limited for 5 years instead if two lower trim truck that are only kept 2.5 years each. The diesel will keep excellent resales value for future benefit.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid for yours? I could probablystretch and spend $40k if went that route, but it seems that's no where close enough for a limited.

My intention was to get and keepmy sport for 5-7 years until I saw how high the resale is on my truck haha

same thing for me man, I knew i wanted a Ram and when i was there they kept trying to sell my the "black edition" ram because it "looked" like the Sport visually, which i didnt mind the look at all but the interior and features are what got me, i wanted something that felt luxury to me. And i wanted white. They kept pushing me to get a quad cab too lol

In the end, i walked out with the 14' White Sport Crew Cab and damn am i glad i did!

It has all the options i could have wanted and more, plus the extra room for the CC is great, and I love the white and the way the sport looks.

Like they said, dont settle for something that isnt going to make you happy 2 months down the road. Just suck it up and get the right truck the first time!!

(side note: only thing i wish i got was 4x4 lol but there werent any Sport 4x4's in the state at the time and i was being impatient hahahahaha but living in Las Vegas i don't really need 4x4 anyways)
