I have a 2014 1500 5.7eng with the 8 hp70 and have the shudder when shifting from 1 to2 and 2 to3, at low speed. Not sure if it's the tranny, transfer case or what? Any ideas?

Does it happen when driving on tow haul mode? When you say low speed, you mean low rpm? It is possible to be at low speed but high rpm. Does it happen at low speed high rpm or low rpm? Low rpm shudder usually transmision, tow haul can sometimes get rid or it, so can fluid changes. Has it ever had a fluid change?

I have a 14 with 78k miles. I have changed fluid, pan and filter. Mine will shudder shifting into 3rd and sometimes 4th. Its not everytime. Its almost like if i have to sit at a redlight or stop sign for a bit waiting for traffic, then get on it (i manually shift) it will shudder going into third and 4th. But if i come to a stop, and can go right away it doesnt do it. Also shifting at a certain rpm makes no difference on mine. I feel like i can hear it through the exhaust (if this makes any sense). I dont feel its the transmission. i have no codes either and a scan did not show anything either. Mine is always when shifting into 3rd and 4th.

It seems to do it in either normal and tow mode. Yes low speed and low low rpm. When accelerating normally from a stop, it seems to happen at the shift changes from 1-2 and 2-3? The truck has about 107K on the clock and never had a fluid/filter change so I may start with that. I bought the lifetime warranty on the drivetrain so I'm kinda checking if this has been a problem before I take it in and complain about it lol.....

Check your book, if it says lifetime fluid, you have no responsibilty to chnage it, so the lifetime warranty shuld take care of it. Changing zf8 fluid is no small task or no small expense, all the fluid choices are costly, and even the procedure to test the fluid level is a two part video process. Up to you, but I'd let dealer handle it.

Hi 16RamHemi,
We are sorry to hear about your concern. Have you had the opportunity to have a vehicle diagnosed by your dealer? If you decide to go that route and would like an additional layer of assistance, please send us a private message.

Well.....after a new valve body, damn thing still shudders shifting in the low gears. 1-2, 2-3 and sometimes 3-4. Mine use to do it every now and then but the last few months it's gotten worse and now it's almost all the time. Called the dealer, left a message to find out what the next step will be.....

did you have to pay for that VB? They also have shudder fix's, one thing about the zf fluid, it is very thin.

It adds film lubricant, but as long as you have lifetime warranty, dont use it.

mine is sporadic as well.

I think its the whole learning tranny thing, I tend to roll at most stop signs, and only come to a complete stop as needed.

Mine seems worse in stop and go traffic, that could just be in my head though.

Final update.....Dealer replaced the transmission and all is well again. No more shudder. No complaints about the dealer, they had a process to go through. First, software update, 2nd, valve body and if neither of those work they replace the tranny. Glad I have the lifetime drivetrain warranty. Cost me $100.....
