What kind of primer? What form of prep prior to spraying?

My advice? scuff it up with some 400, use some self etching primer (on that metal) - let it dry for a day, then lightly scuff with red scotchbrite and hit it with your color coat.

Yeah the tactical. I was usin plain rustoleum primer. They have an etching primer also, would that be ok? Prep, whats prep lol. I did sand it, not sure what grit. And cleaned it with windsheild cleaner, all i had. The stuff said it had to cure for 48 hours. Read that after i had put it on lol. Thanks JJ you da man!

Black shell, matched ring, black mesh. The mesh is done, gotta do the shell another time or two. Then put it back together and not scratch anything lol.

Yeah, self etching primer on raw material like that, Dupli-Colors self etching primer is pretty good also.

I hated the duplicolor SEP.

Humidity SUCKS when painting!

For prep, 400 grit, then go over it with a wax/degreaser. Some windsheild cleaners have waxes in them, and the lack of scuffage on the metal = no sticky painty.

I used denatured alcohol last time I painted...it evaporates really well and it's very easy to work with.

The self etching primer will work as an adhesion promoter...and with working with bare metal like that, the self etch is your best bet.

Got self etching, a can of denatured alcohol, and some 400 sand paper. Only thing I don't have that was recommended is the scotch bright pad. Were would I find one of those?
